Thanks for the suggestion on the product. One question about the product, is this the type of product you can use on the entire car as part of a routine wash, or is it more like a once in a while use item that you use in the affected area?
you want to use that on the area that has the problem.

you can use it to remove bug and tar.

Hey DD,

What is more responsible for preventing swirling? Is it the Opticoat itself or is it using appropriate wash materials and methods (like the two bucket system)?

Is it possible that you can get a swirling pattern in the opticoat?

swirls will happen for sure with or without a coating.

the coating will be more resistant to the swirls.

proper washing is a must to prevent swirls.

For DD. I have a question about paint sealant vs wax. I am going to claybar, then use Meguiars Show Car Glaze #7, followed by either Meguiars Paint Sealant or a Wax on my Argento silver FRS. Can I use the paint sealant AND then put a wax (Prima Epic) over the sealant? Not sure it makes sense but wanted to run it by you. Thanks in advance.

#7 is quite overkill IMO. It's just oily pure polish, and more for colorful paint jobs that need a deeper gloss or whatever.

Sealant and wax or the same thing. Have you tried Meguiar's new Ultimate Wax? It's awesome! Just a 1-step wax with polishing oils, blends really well.

Anyway, you want to let wax cure before putting on layers, I'd guess. Like- 24 hours between applications. So rewash and then apply a new coat.

Figured I'd ask you guys. I have hard water stains on my windows but strangely not my paint. I washed my car friday evening and didn't notice it until I was done and about to leave my friends house. I couldn't get it off with the cleaning products I had. The car wasn't in the sun nor was it hot out. I tried saturday to get it off with no luck. I tried again today with various cleaners I have here at work but still no work. I have clay at home as well as polish that I will try tomorrow. Any other recommendations?

I'm gonna give Colinite 845 a go, do I need an actual "sealant" to go under that, or should I just apply it directly after claying?

Was thinking Blackfire Wet Diamond, if the answer is, "Yes!".

Thanks!

Porter-Cables are super easy to use, pretty forgiving if you're a novice, and you'll want to hit it up again in a couple of years (really helps re-sell a car too).

Watch some videos online.. trust me, its way easier than you think and the personal payoff you get from the 1:1 time with your car is priceless.
May just give it a shot. I always follow the Drive Clean videos, and they've been nothing but a godsend thus far.

I figure I'd get the following as recommended:
Griot's Garage 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher 3rd Gen
Uber Microfiber Cutting Pad - 5.25 inch - 2 Pack
Uber Blue Clay Bar

I just need to find a polishing pad as well as a good compound and polish.

Any recommendations? I was planning on getting everything off your site, so things work out. I'll see if I can get some pictures of the scratches as well. They're not deep, but definitely noticeable in the light when you look the right way.

is it possible to wash early in the morning or evening when the sun is less strong?
can you find a shaded area or garage?

you can try some the Adam's line it is safe to use in the direct sun light.
