I don't get it I feel like they're biased towards the hype or something cause I could of sworn autocar test drove the prototype and gave it great reviews

I agree, all of their projected numbers aren't too consistent. However, they have followed the FT-86 since '08, so I give them credit for the enthusiasm.

I understand it is not build for straight line speed ... but that doesn't give it an excuse to have a ridiculous slow 0-62 time.
Even a 3000lbs 180hp tC had 0-60 time of 6.5s

Putting the hype and excitment aside, instead of hitting a home run... something almost any Tom, Rick, or Harry could have diagramed out for them, I think Toyota got all dressed up, went out and punted.

Toyota is 200hp / 190 some nm and 1180 kg.

The 7.0 secs for the GT86 isnt far off m8. 0-60 will be high 6's.
The numbers for the EDM DC2 Integra Type-R are :

HP : 197
NM : 184
weight : 1160

so very comparable to the GT86

the Type-R does 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 6.7 sec, so unless the GT86 i geared very low, the GT86 should be i the high 6's.

The Type-R came with 15 inch rims with 195/55 bridgestone potenzas, i have some 17" EDM Accord Type-R rims with 205/35 potenzas, in my opinion that's the largest wheel/tire you can run without ruining the crisp stearing of the Type-R.

Larger rims and wider tires might look better, but they *can* ruin the feel of the car. Just mentioning it, as ppl are already talking 18" and larger

I stick with 15s on my ITR.. don't like anything past 16 but still prefer little 15s..

I agree, numbers and performance should be similar to the ITR. There are stock USDM ITRs with great street tires that hit 13.9 quarter mile runs. Low-mid 14s are easy with the ITR so assuming gearing is good on the 86 I'd expect similar.

i prefer the 15s as well, unfortunately i found out about the 16inch Rota R-Spec after i bought and restored the ATR rims, but the R-Spec 16s should be the perfect blend of looks and handling. But to be honest, it isnt the diameter of the rims that ruins the feel, it's the width of the tire and the offset of the rim, and of course the unsprung weight. And 18 inch rims with 195 tires just look wrong

Actually , when i first read about the FT86 two years ago, it was an article by one of the designers who said that their target was to make car that handled like an ITR...

oh and regarding handbuilt, the ITR was somewhat hand built, if you recall

Gotta factor suspension geometry, and the fact that FWD doesn't get off the line as well as RWD. I'm guessing low 6s.

True, but if rims are too small then there can be too much play with tire flex (and rolling over the sidewalls). 17" is to me the sweet spot, anything beyond that and it's a trade of form over function.

If the autocar version was the top of the line with the navi and the TRD then 28,000 isn't too bad IMO. There's at least 4,000 to 5,000 of options that you could strip out.
The UK versions usually have higher quality interior and more stardard equipment. The Yaris comes with 6 speed maunal as standard for example... I think the engines are more efficient but more expensive too.... Also we have 20% sales TAX here (which is included in the prices)

As for the GT 86, it should come very well kitted out with GPS as standard and many other nice interior features. I order mine on friday and the only options were Manual or Auto box with or without leather....

My Guess would be £23k-£25k for a standard and £28k would be for leather with Auto Box and Metallic Paint.
