I will start with 50, car likes then I will go 75, if stock tune has any issues I ill try some jets between the two. Gota watch the trq output for I believe stock clutchgood for 230ish. Nitrous makes more trq than the horsepower rated. Im hopeful that this kit in a entry level can produce 220/220 with stock tune. Bigger numbers with clutch and ecutek tune im sure can had. Or just more bolt-ons like header/over pipe.

RPM Window switch will be very useful then to avoid too much low end torque?

This is interesting. I've never explored nitrous as a power adder, as I've always felt it was 'cheap' power, or said "you gotta press a button for some power?" I've never been a fan of it due to being a 'temporary power adder'. As in, the thought of my car only being as powerful as it is when the bottle's full has always turned me off.

Now that the negative thoughts are behind me, I think this is pretty cool. I've always loved 'techy' items, so having a system that I could foreseeably fully arm/operate without ever leaving the driver's seat intrigues me. If arming the system with a single switch: a) opened the bottle; b) warmed the bottle to desired operating temperature; c) powered up solenoids; d) armed/activated a full throttle switch and rpm window switch, and all I had to do was drive it [like i stole it]; I'm all for it.

Only problem is, in order to have this complete of a system (the only way I'd ever run nitrous), it is likely to cost almost $2000. That's without any kind of actual tuning. I would probably want to have an Ecutek map created for the bottle as well. That's probably another ~$300 or so, plus the initial cost of Ecutek (license/cable).

Here are my questions for you experienced NAWWWSSS users (my only FF reference, promise):

1) How long does a bottle last (10lb & 15lb), with a 50 shot? I know this ultimately depends on how trigger happy the user is, but assuming the bottle is used maybe once a day, for a good 1/4 sprint, what would you expect, or have you experienced? (So roughly 7 1/4 runs a week).

2) What does it cost to fill a bottle (10lb & 15lb)? Do shops allow refills if they know the system is on a car that is driven on public roads?

3) Is a 50 shot enough, or is it just the first stop down a rabbit hole?

In any case, sub'd.

Rpm switch is good for set points of on/off. Helps keep you out of a fuel cut. Progression of the shot would help most, thats if these solenoids can accept being pulsed.

1- how long it last is up to you. Count to 13, thats prob best idea I can give you. Now 7-9 of those 13 second runs sounds about rite.
2-$3.50-6.00lb depending were you live. Shops refill regardless. If there selling it im sure there users too.
3- on the rite setup 50 is good. Now in v8 world 50 would get you laughed at. Typicaly you can use a nitrous shot up to half the stock bhp rated for your plateform. Have you ever been in a car that has sprayed 100+ shot? Car has instant balls. I found on every platform of car I have owned that once the power aspect has been addressed I use less. Just knowing its there is enuff for me at times. NX makes nice kits, this kit runs little more bc of the plate but they have other options which will allow more of your doller to be used on accessories. I have never filled a bottle up on a weekly basis, went 2 months before but thats just me.

Nitrous usage can be estimated fairly well by:

100hp shot will consume 0.8 lbs per 10 seconds of usage.

so 50hp would be 0.4 lbs per 10 seconds of usage

Thanks for the insight!

Sounds like nitrous can get pretty pricey if you're trigger happy with your "go button". Almost like a full 1/4 mile run could use an entire lb. ~$5 per 1/4 is pretty costly, IMO.

I've never experienced the feel of nitrous before, but I can imagine that (assuming "50 shot" truly provides ~50whp) its a good feeling. But is it worth the cost....

I'm very curious to see how your setup progresses, and what the final results are. Maybe my pennies will start being saved towards $1500-$2000 for something I've never tried before...

What hiccups have you had in any of your past nitrous systems? Any major/catastrophic failures?

Are there any significant drawbacks of nitrous (with a proper set up)? Think it effects engine longevity?

What are your thoughts of e85 + nitrous? Theoretically, it should be "safer", or at least just as safe, right? (Assuming your not running too much power for stock internals.)

Can't wait to see some tunes pop up for nitrous kits.

i cant wait to hear your first thoughts! i use to have a ZEX kit back in 2003 in my single cam civic, i used a dry 75 shots... after 12 bottles the motor was still going strong but i sold the car for a celica GTS, since then i havent played with nitrous but i thought about it many many times! it was a LOT of FUN!
