I feel like half of the posters here haven't driven an s2k hard to be able to make judgement of it. When you get behind the wheel of an s2k, you feel like you're in a racecar. There's a mean presence to it and you feel a bit more courage to take a turn harder. Also with the 9k revline for the AP1s (which I owned) makes tracking it even better. For DDing the car, I drove it to school and work, 10 miles back and forth for school and 10 miles back and forth for work, and had no issue. When you guys are talking about dding, do you guys really use all your space in the FRS? I don't drive anyone when I'm on the way to work and pretty much use the passenger seat for storage and occasionally take a girl out on a date in the FRS, so everything moves to the back seats. I'm a 5'6 asian guy and fit both cars well, and never had a problem with DDing the s2k. I had it as a convertible for a few months and for the rest of the span of me owning it, I had a mugen hardtop on it. It is definitely a beauty, definitely dd-able, and definitely a great car to drive. The only reason I took on the FRS was because it was time for a new car (I had bad luck with the s2k and people hitting and running me so I got rid of it). What's better than a track car that can last 150k without needing to rebuild the motor/transmission?

I'm probably in the minority here but I am not a fan of that power curve tachometer on the S2000, imo it looks whacky as hell.

No I don't like the tachometer either. It would be better if it was analog. But I never look down at the tach, so it doesn't bother me as much.

I always liked the digital dash display. I thought the AP2 looked a little more classy (and was easier to read), but I think both of them look "cool". I used to work for a Honda dealer back when the AP2s first came out.

^interesting that you think that. The position of that tachometer, and the way the increments spread out further above 6000 rpm, was intentionally done. Makes it FAR EASIER to glance at engine speed when you're flying from to turn to turn on a race track.

For that purpose it's one of the best designed tachometers in a production car.

Have you ever been in a racecar, and have you ever tracked your s2000?

This.

Race displays have a similar layout for a reason.

Thanks
The S2000 is a great car but look at the specs. 240 HP with 152lb ft of torque. The S2k weighs in at 2800 lbs. Now the FR-S has 200hp and 151lb ft of torque and weighs in at 2750. 200 hp is achieved at 7000 rpm in the FR-S and 240 hp is achieved at 8300 rpms. These cars are very similar.

The advantage I see with the s2k over the fr-s is this:

When doing SCCA stock events, the s2000 has wider rims that are provided by the factory. You can throw on 275's on the rear tires and grip like a beast. The measly 7 inch width on the FR-S hinders how wide your tires can be before upgrading to a new wider rim which takes you out of stock class. If that is important to you, then go with the S2000, if not go with the FR-S.

That's my opinion.

It's not super hard to change rims...

Most people aren't going to be buying hoosiers and running stock class autox.
