Is this scenario possible or is there a conflict?

Listening to Pandora, call comes in, take that call while pandora mutes itself all while torque has been running and reading the car?

I believe this is what happens. Torque however, stops recording when it doesn't have focus. It "freezes" itself when it loses focus. Your Max and Min readings will be cleared. That's a design of Torque, not the head unit.

Can a satellite receiver be used with the head unit? Don't want to stream xm but actually have an app that controls the stations with station names.

As far as I know, there isn't a way to hook up an XM antenna to this head unit.

Will an audio setup like the oem car audio 400 get better sound from this head unit as it has a seperate dsp and amp?

The one review I've seen here says the head units built in internal amplifier sucks. If the OEM audio plus solution allows you to use RCA's instead of speaker outs from the head unit, it will sound much better.

Is this an exact copy of the actual ca-fi unit, or is it not quite as good? Thanks

It has the same insides, different apps, and resistive instead of capacitive screen. The Ca-Fi might have a different internal amplifier, although I have never tested it.

Wonder if there is a way to keep the deck powered to allow for instant boot ups like a tablet. Unfortunately you probably have to power its amp and not just the brain.

Considering how weak our stock batteries are (mine won't hold a charge past 3 days), I think it's a good thing it shuts the entire unit off lol.

Would youvonsider the apps not as nice/good as the actual unit or of equal value? And can you explain to me the difference between resistive and capacitive. How well does it work, sound wise, good quality? Conparable to a brand name deck? Also being routed, is it glitchy?

They both run android so all the apps are the same.

The difference in the screens is capacitive can do multi touch and is just a better screen to use. Resistive is less sensitive I guess you could say. It still works perfectly fine, but don't expect to playing a bunch of games on it necessarily.

Can't comment on the rest as I don't have one.

Sound is great, but again, I'm not using the internal amplifier. I haven't had anything break on it. The root hasn't affected anything.

I'd say the ca-fi apps are prettier, but perform the same. Definitely not worth the 500$ premium.

By internal amplifier, are you refering to the one in the HU? And how are you by passing it if so?

Wouldn't that still use the internal amp aswell as external? Or would it actually bypass it?

So what are the benefits of the unit being rooted, was there previous limitations? Such as what? Can you connect multiple bluetooth devices? I.e obd bt reader and my phone? Or would I need a wifi obd reader? Is there a diy guide on swapping out the blue led's on the unit? Which dash kit are you using for the unit?

Thanks a bunch, sorry for the noob questions lol

RCAs are before the internal amplifier, if you were to take the speaker outputs and tie them into your amp on the high level inputs, then that would be after the HU's internal amp.

Rooted allows us to run torque on the older version of Android as well as other things that are beyond my knowledge. In theory its one step closer to being able to flash to the newer 4.X versions of Android which would be huge (lots more app support and options)
