I highly recommend LNT too. I used it for the BRZ group buy back about.. a year and a half ago. Its the cheapest one to commit to.

I definitely agree here. 6 months to see what's going on plus I feel like this is definitely a good cause. lol

Sure the VIP site says to get the authorization letter before going to the dealer, but the Subaru VIP manager specifically told me to contact the dealer first to check on estimated wait times. She stated that dealers are NOT required to honor VIP pricing.

Basically it worked like this: 1) call dealer for eta on a brz, but they won't give you firm info until you are ready to buy 2) get code, fill out form, & get VIP authorization letters generated which are dealer specific 3) call or go to dealer with auth letter only to find out they will not honor VIP price for brz's, and they'll offer you VIP on an STi wrx instead. 4) repeat steps 1-3 for other SoCal dealers 5) realize no SoCal dealers will actually honor VIP price and buy from out of state for less than invoice price.

This may work in other states, but I've never heard of anyone who's actually been successful getting VIP pricing on a BRZ in SoCal.
Our group buy (thanks to Renee after Puente Hills screwed me over) in Irvine got some VIP pricing. I wouldn't say they took anything off for the BRZ since it wasn't on the list at the time, but the group did get the car for MSRP and no mark up. I also think Rich threw in wheel locks too.

Lol

After our exchange in OT I was going to link you to this thread, but I see you found it. Subarus can always be found for invoice and VIP pricing makes it that much sweeter.

I like buying cars with the sales men.

I have squeeze their balls until they give me what I want.

No dirty-ness intended.

So I have access to this through work, (FHI is a major supplier for us). Has anyone had any luck using this program? Furthermore, what about using one of these letters to preorder a 2014 BRZ instead?

Yes, it has worked; I got a dealer's pipeline-allocated BRZ at VIP pricing. (posted above). No idea about preorder.

Sounds good so far, when it comes closer to the time I'll let folks know it goes.

I ordered one through a local dealer using the VIP program, it should show up late june.

The only difficulty was convincing them that they should be able to order it, because last year they weren't able to place any special orders at all.

Would I be able to get the VIP pricing if I was a member for 5 months then go to the dealer and put a deposit down for a BRZ, but it will arrive after I've been a member for 6 months?

It would be worth it to talk to the dealer. The specifications of the vip program even outline the possibility of a dealer to give you a car off their lot, but only at the dealers discression.

Most of the time they wouldn't be too interested in that because they will have invested more in the car to keep it on the lot then they would have for one that was specifically ordered. Their profit margin would shrink. However, I don't think the dealer would be out any more if the car showed up a month earlier than it would have if you waited the full 6months before placing the order. Again, it would be at the dealers discression but I think you have a good shot if you go in and ask about it.

Starting the VIP process today, hoping to order one by the end of the month before the cutoff I just read about!
