TF-Works Rolls Out New Scion FR-S Coupe Project

Quote:
The aftermarket industry is having a blast with the RWD coupe duo from Toyota and Subaru, which is something we expected after the two Japanese carmakers softened up the appearance of their respective production models compared to the impressive looking concepts.

What we have here is a new styling job for the Scion FR-S from TF-Works. While the Illinois-based tuner is not finished yet with the project, it has released pictures and pricing for the exterior design kit.

TF-Works package starts with a "Version Select" carbon-fiber body kit that comprises an extended front apron that partially covers the bumper and side skirts ($1,330), plus a trunk spoiler ($385), and continues with a fresh set of matte silver, concave 19-inch alloy wheels from Vossen ($549) that are placed on bolt-on wheel spacers ($166.95).

We should note that none of the above prices include delivery fees.

So basically a replica TRD technocraft body kit (in carbon fiber, fitment unknown) and some (imo heavy) Vossen wheels and spacers, and without any suspension tuning =)

TF builds awesome cars and have pioneered great style. If people only knew what they have done for the community you'd be a lot more grateful for what they do. They won't ever admit it because they're too humble but I'll say it.

There are provisions on the FR-S already for sideskirts to be mounted under the car. If you look under the car you'll see rubber plugs that can be pulled out. Only thing is that the holes are over 1" wide and no one that I know of makes a fender clip that size.
On the front of the side skirt - we used the OEM fender clip. Drilled one small hole on the side skirt and done.
In the rear - we drilled two very small holes for the rivets on the lip that folds over into the wheel well.
Fits very snug. This is the way we installed ours.

Those holes you are talking about are actually tie downs for when our cars are being shipped (so I've heard/read). Those rubber plugs just cover the slot.

I got nothing against TF for selecting "products" to showcase to the community. If anything, it is the company "Version Select" that I have a problem with, mostly due to the lack of originality. It is obvious that this particular body kit they sell is an exact replica of the TRD kit with the exception of material used. This to me is the same as Rota taking Volk's design and profiting from it.. not very ethical IMO.

Nice work!

So what's the cost of the aero kit and does the rear bumper need cutting like the TRD one?

Does it come painted or unpainted?
