Your wheel and tire warranty might cover it, although for something like that they'll typically send an inspector to look at them, and to be honest, it looks more like abuse than any kind of tire defect or road hazard.



It's possible the drifting overheated the carcass and caused a partial failure, then your spirited driving finished them off.

Hey thanks for the tip! Not sure it would have helped, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. I think I keep them at about 37-38 cold.

Yeah Michelin offered 25% replacement, but I'll just buy some other tire. Got some used Potenzas to mount for now, and rolling on my buddys spare set right now. They look better than my stock wheels funny enough...

Have come to the conclusion they were just heat cycled too many times, and on top of that, bad pavement, just too much.

AT WHAT FU**ING POINT DID I SAY I EXPECTED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THEM!?!?!?! Additionally, I stated that I wasn't looking for warranty, I was going under the wheel and tire protection package that I pay for on top of my normal warranty. Makes sense to me. If I can curb the hell out of my wheels (not that I do, just saying, if it happens,) I can go get a new wheel. So I thought the tires kind of fell apart, thought it was worth asking before I went and bought tires. Which I already have.

Yeah I sent pictures to Michelin, and while they did admit that it was abnormal, they came to the same conclusion as others, that I drove the hell out of them, but were willing to offer 25% replacement cost. Which, me in their position, that's fairly generous.

That pavement is roughly the same as some of the pavement I was driving on. Out there, I limit my FR-S sliding to the smooth concrete bits... My miata however... Different story XD

For sale - used tires, only 7500 miles. light disintegration. some tread separation. should last a couple more summers.
