It was a joke, I do know about the expansion joints for heat while in supersonic flight.

all jokes aside its about $4-$6 per gallon of jp-7 (supersonic jet fuel) and an sr71 has a maximum payload of 80,000 lbs of fuel its about 11k gal - 12k gal of fuel which is about $45k - $55k for a full tank + you have to add in the cost of Triethylborane the fuel igniter which is somewhere in the $100 per ml range and i have no clue how much of that they use(well the exact amount really)... plus it ignites when it comes in contact with the air... lol... and they use quite a bit of it to keep the engines primed or incase the engine stalls out and they ahve to resart it mid-flight... so yeah for the entire payload of fuel its probably averaged out to about $400 to $800 per gallon when you include both into the equation or more soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. a full tank of fuel for a sr-71 is in the $4-$5 mil range, plus all operating costs.... refueller, crew, maintenance ect ohh and i think its .22 miles per gallon, which is surprisingly efficient considering a top fuel dragster burns about a gallon a second...

Yeah I like the enterprise but it is nowhere near 960 meters it's about the size of the US Navy aircraft carrier. The saucer section is mostly living quarters the secondary hull is where all the industrial stuff and cargo bays are and it only holds about half a dozen shuttles. The original ship held exactly four shuttles but the refit holds a couple more than that. Funny thing is your average smart phone is better than the communicator from the original series. I wasn't trying to be mean to you or anything but from the looks of things the guy who designed that site has never even seen Star Trek.

Now I can type without the phone's display bouncing all over the place. I wasn't trying to sound mean to you but when people who own websites post horrible inaccurate, that just pisses me off. The TOS Enterprise isn't as small as it looks. I'm uploading some images I downloaded from the Cygnus X-1 blueprint site, I went looking for them but I couldn't find them so I will post them on flickr.
