the only real upside I see with E85 is that if you decide you DON'T want it anymore, you just stop putting it in. Its more difficult to de-mod a car for whatever reason than it is to switch fuel types. The problem with it (and that "pay to play" line is a pile of shit and everyone knows it) is that its not a one-time power adder like a turbo, or cams and pistons, or a tune, its an constantly ongoing drain. Sure, with a turbo the gains from E85 are potentially greater but I'd bet that with an aggressive turbo, E85, maybe some low comp pistons and even more boost and timing advance, you're getting really close to the car as a daily driver being not only impractical but also nearly unaffordable.
I guess my opinion of E85 as a permanent fuel source for my car is tainted by the fact that I drive my car everywhere, everyday cuz its my only car. paying 50-70% more per mile after I finally go S/C (or maybe twin scroll turbo, I'm contemplating that as well) AND having to find E85 stations in Tucson and wherever else my job takes me, all add up to it not being a feasible solution. I kinda view E85 right up there with NO2...since each car is an extension of its owner/builder, doing something like an E85 swap or hooking up a NO2 tank, to me is lazy, and that laziness is reflected in the build and in the owner/builder. But then I don't see cars in terms of numbers like peak horsepower, torque, lateral g's, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times..to me its more about the experience and joy of driving, not trying to hit a number goal. But that's just me, rant over. I think I got a LITTLE carried away. Sleep time. |

Flex fuel is really the way to go. Then you get the better fuel economy by only needing 30% ethanol to be able to get the timing benefits plus the fuel economy of pumpgas while not being limited to gas station locations. As far as being a lazy builder, I'm not sure about that. Everyone of us is going a different route with their cars and I'm glad. It would suck to have all of us with the same mods. Your more than welcome to drive my car the next time you are up here. I like showing people another option they have for their car. Not the best, cheapest or most powerful option, just another option. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |

). But if you are going to 'play' it's always going to be expensive especially on something that you constantly have to put in your car (E85, NO2 etc.).That being said I personally can't afford gas right now as it, much less losing MPG so I will just stick with Premium. But if I had the money I totally would. |

I don't touch Facebook but someone who does should try and hit up the FI cars going to the shootout and invite them to the Pavs.

If anyone can try this and let me know what they experience that would be great. (Rev up to above say 6000 rpms and then throw in the clutch and hold it and see if your rpms drop down where they are supposed to or if it drops then shoots up again and then drops again.) |

Yea I have something similar, sounds like a piece of metal vibrating under the hood..someone on the forums thought it may be related to the fly wheel. I took my car to the dealer and long story short they acknowledge the noise being irregular, claimed to have fixed it, only for the noise to come right back..the dealers response to me was its related to a valve with the exhaust system and normal and said the noise will increase if I put an aftermarket exhaust on..I'm still not buying the dealers response
