Scion corporate basically just told me to have it checked at the dealer. They want to blame it on cold weather but no other car i've ever had had any issues starting in normal operating temperatures (mid 30's and above). I guess i'll be leaving it at the dealer at some point for that and all the other issues that scion has no actual resolution for

Just happened yet again... 55 degrees outside. So much for Scion's excuse of it being because it's cold outside. I'm scheduling service for sometime soon to see what they have to say.

i have a AT BRZ with push start and this happened to me twice today both times starting in my garage so it's not cold. I've only owned this car for a month with 700km on it. I have an appointment with my dealer on thursday for A/C issue but i'll bring this up and see what they say.

I'm bringing mine in for service on Wednesday at around 2700 miles. Having them check out this starting issue as well as multiple window issues and the dead pedal not staying secure no matter what i do. Let's see what happens

I talked to my dealer, they said if it's intermittent then it's going to be really hard for the guys to find the issue so i decided not to do anything about it for now. i'll bring it in if it occurs more frequently.

Happened to me twice..or 3 times in my first month of ownership...never happened after, but then winter hit with cold temp..so who knows? From this thread I'll take my conclusion that this isn't an issue, lol.

i'm pretty sure it's not because of the cold. i picked up my car in feb that's the coldest month in Canada, never had an issue starting up. Couple of days ago it was really warm and it struggled to start, twice, on the same day. Now i'm pressing the start button a bit longer for 1 sec, so far so good.

Took my BRZ in for this issue to the dealer, told them about and left it there for them to work on. Only problem is it doesn't happen everytime so they haven't seen happen yet. Hope they see it atleast once. Tomorrow will be day three, but no complaints in the mean time I'll be in the Outback they loaned me and loving it except being reintroduced to body-roll is giving panic attacks feeling like am going to roll over

Mine has had this problem, too. In the month or so that I've had it, it has failed to start seven times. When it does fail to start, the engine doesn't even crank.
I've taken it in once and was told to switch out remotes to rule out a faulty remote. The problem persisted and I have an appointment to have it looked at tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. |

Diagnosis: The battery had a bad cell.
The battery was replaced, hopefully resolving the issue. |

Manual FR-S - waiting at ACC key position - happened on slight decline and level groud
Had the chirping fuel pump replaced 10 days ago. Since then I've had a problem starting it 3 times. It seems to take longer to start and then immediately dies. On the second attempt it seems on the verge of starting but doesn't until I give the gas pedal a press. Hoping the new pump just needs to break in or something. It's going to be really annoying if this continues. Last edited by MI FR-S; 03-22-2013 at 04:53 PM. |

When I remember to wait at the ACC position on the key, it fires up everytime. If I just turn the key, I may get the delayed start or no start.
