So do your research to see what TSBs exist and if you have the problem bring it to the dealer with a print out.

As of a few days ago when I last checked, every TSB released for this car has been posted on this forum, and it will continue to be updated. Dealerships will have individual service histories on the vehicle but the only thing that can be checked universally is the campaign (recall) history of a vehicle through TIS (Toyota's internal network)

We have a winner. Ignore the big gov lovers. They will never recognize their irrational distrust of private enterprise and naive trust of big gov. You have to look at both with open eyes and mind. A business may screw you out of money, but government can do that and take away your freedoms.

If you look at the top competitive firms of each of the past 10 decades, almost all of them have collapsed, been swallowed up, or have shrunk in size and importance. That's due to the fact that it is extremely difficult to be large and efficient over a sustained period of time. That is why industries almost inevitably focus their energies on limiting competition (through buyouts and mergers) or by asserting oligopolistc control over markets in other ways.

It is way too simplistic just to state that private enterprise is efficient and governments are not, it simply does not hold up under scrutiny.
You answered your own question for me. Walmart vanquished Sears and Dell vanquished IBM's PC business because of better efficiencies. IBM sold off their PC business because it no longer fit their business plan. IBM has been around for most of those past 10 decades and is one of the strongest businesses in the US.

I suggest you strongly study the Walmart business model to better understand the capitalistic model. It is not simplistic to state that private enterprise is more efficient, because if they aren't ( with some exceptions- GM, Chrysler) they fail. If government isn't efficient they simply take more money from me and YOU!

In order to be more efficient I suggest you take further comments to a different forum. Huffington Post should suit your needs quite adequately.

Even if the Dealership offered me FREE oil changes for 10 years.. i'd still change my own oil.. all it takes is one goof up by some incompetent worker, and your car can be ruined for life.

Example, a friend of mine took his Corolla into the Dealership for one of his "free" oil changes.. they forgot to put the oil cap back on, and as he drove it home, oil gacked out all over the engine bay & underside of the hood.

Yes, the dealership cleaned it up (as much as they could). And yes, there was no problem with the car mechanically afterwards... but I would hate my car (and dealership) forever if that ever happened to my car.

Before reading through this, all I can ask is- Am I the only person who has not taken their FR-S in for an oil change at 1k miles? I mean, that seems to be the common theme.. Now, I feel like it's going to explode on me :<

No... people just like to do what gives them a warm feeling. I waited till like 6500 and went ahead and got it done since I needed my passenger seat buzzer turned off.

This one time a guy ordered a burger at a restaurant... it was raw..... I don't eat anything I don't cook now.

I can come up with BS to not use any avenue of service in the world with shit like "oh my buddy had this happen" 95% of the dealers are problem free. If you are that worried about it do an inspection on the car before you accept it back after the oil change.
