Could this be due to the tire being heat cycled too many times? I'm not sure how much heat cycles effect the stock tires, but many softer compound/racing tires become sort of useless after X number of heat cycles...

Yeah, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, man. Even if the tires failed days later, during normal driving, saying the drifting didn't do anything is like someone with chronic high cholesterol blaming the tossed salad they were eating right before a heart attack.

It wasn't the salad. It was the 50+ years of fried chicken, bacon, and sitting their lazy ass on the couch that finally took it's toll.

I've tracked mine at the limit (ran the fastest stock tire and stock car time at Thunderhill thus far) and driven mine spiritedly and still no major chunking from the Primacy's. I think it was the coarse pavement you're driving on or a rare tire defect.

That's awesome, wondering if maybe you are going to need an alignment as well? Noticed it was worse on one side vs the other... Maybe I will get a set of spare tires at the same time I get the car. Keep up the good work

I really think drifting is well beyond the expected use of these tires. I wouldn't call drifting and expectation of the car and tires use under warranty, that is pretty extreme stuff. As others have said, it looks like your tires got so hot they melted and pulled off the carcass. That is some very hard use. Sure it is within the cars limits, but have you ever noticed that many drifters have a tire company as a sponsor, for good reason. Get those new tires on quick, you could easily have a blowout on those carcasses (no longer real tires) and really do some damage or have a wreck.

Thanks all for the replies. Yeah tire sponsor would be nice... got get good first which is where these come in. I have to think its pavement that was the last straw. Heat clearly allowed them to shred. Definitely outside tire limits. Car had no problem though. Stopped every few minutes to cool the brakes and engine. Alignment will probably be necessary though I think wear is from being more comfortable going one way than the other. Odd. Oh well. Looking for tires and limiting driving to on base at < 30-40 mph. Might be borrowing a buddys car to drive to phx and get some used tires. I feel like I should definitely do all 4+ an alignment. Also changing my driving habits until my budget can handle the shenanigans.

driving hard and plain out abusing your car are two different things.

i've done 4 autocrosses and a track day on my oem tires and they don't even look used. I think your driving needs to be addressed before a tire sponsor...
