I doubt blind-spot monitoring would be standard, that's usually a luxury-option and would drive up the cost. Plus they tick me off. As long as it's not shrek-ears I'll be happy, hah.

Come on the current mirrors are good...why change them? Blind spots? We never heard any of that from the press drives....

Sure it's possible, but that thing isn't a diffuser, it's a bumper decoration. That's not to say there isn't something semi-functional under the car, but we haven't seen any pictures of the underbody and every "diffuser" on the concept cars has been ludicrous.

CFD and wind tunnel testing are bound by the laws of physics. Your argument is not invalid, and if the "diffuser" wasn't so steep it would even have merit. But that thing is so far beyond non-functional that there is simply no possibility of it being anything other than decorative.

Agreed, it's so improbable it's effective simply based on it's exit shape that it can only be a bumper trim piece to look like a cartoon-inspired diffuser. Ditto the current VW GTI, every Pontiac ever made, most cars on the road. The diffuser is mainly underneath the car and the exit is relatively subtle and isn't going to be halfway up the backside of the car. You can't force the air to expand/slow-down any more than it will naturally without fans. Even the actually functional diffuser on my Lotus is riddled with compromise and errors [i.e. suspension arm cutouts that ruin the flow of the outer channels, exhaust hole cutout that ruins the flow of the center channel, a 2nd break-point in the center channel, no designated dirty air channels for the wheels/tires].

So, that said, Scion nixing a piece of bumper trim [which appears to cover the 2.5 MPH bumpers, IMO] is unlikely unless they simply make the bumper single piece and all painted. This would likely ruin the aesthetic balance of the rear end and end up costing noticeably more in paint. ...or they could simply crank up the MSRP by $5.

The mirrors on the leaked training guides are already HUGE; how could they possibly have blind spots unless they're concave?

My gut feeling is the OP's friend at Scion was just making stuff up to deflect from answering any real questions.

I agree what you see in the leaked training manual is what we will see next week except for a few surprises....stuff added..

The diffuser is probably going to stay, I'm willing to bet it's not even a separate piece from the bumper. It's just painted to look like it's a add on piece.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did extend the bumpers to fit bigger crash bars to comply with north American crash standards. At least that's what they did with the Altezza//IS300.

Low impact crash regulations are the only reason I could imagine they change the rear bumper. I doubt its all one piece, such units are more than likely attached rather than painted on.
