yep! and because its a new model and not a shared platform anymore the 2013 wrx base price could drive up considerably in premium.

One of the biggest reasons the previous wrx and sti was offered at fairly affordable premium with all that performance stuff they cram in there is because the chassy was virtually the same as the economic counterpart.

if 2013 BRZ comes in at 25k base
the 2013 WRX will surely bump up in premium at 8-10k base price over the BRZ

Especially if they plan on not using the same engine from the BRZ...aka 1.6L turbo to meet 2013 WRC regulations.

Yes I think it will cost about US$120,000 here in Singapore. And I'm just an average income earner.

Went to my dealer to ask about the FR-S and the guy was pretty straight with me about not knowing anything about the car really. He said they probably wont know anything about the car until after the Tokyo Motor Show, he took my name and phone number and said he would call me when he got more information.

Most countries in South East Asia have high import taxes rate. Fortunately, my hometown, Cambodia has import tax based on engine displacement. RX-8 import tax is cheaper than Corolla, because of its 1.3L engine. LOL

It all depends on how much the average person makes in Singapore, their standard of living, how long they're loans are for, etc. Everything is relative...

well you can't.....

Over here in Singapore, every one needs to have a Certificate of Entitlement "COE", which esstentially entitles you to have a right to buy a car.

This Certificate alone currently cost about US$40k for a 1.3 litre RX8.

Which means we have to fork out USD$40k just to have the RIGHT to own a car.

On top of that, there are other registration fees and taxes, which is about 100% of the value of the car, iirc

With shipping, taxes and COE all in, your used RX8 import might cost about US$70k here

A used RX8 in the local market are starting from about US$55k here.

So it may not work out, and yes it sucks to be a motor head in Singapore

Average persons makes SGD$ 4,677 per month, that is SGD$56k per annum

convert to USD, thats about US$45k per annum.

Not high, but we have very low effective income taxes, and no capital gains tax

The maximum loan period and quantum that one can get here is 10 years and 90% of the sale value. But thats rare. Most people pay a decent down payment upfront and have a loan for about 3 to 5 years.
