View Poll Results: If Toyota made a convertible FR-S for the US, would you buy one?
No I like coupe version of the FR-S better. 133 39.82%
Yes I think it looks great; plus a soft top should help keep the weight and price down. 44 13.17%
Maybe, could we get a hardtop convertible as well like what Mazda does with its MX-5 Miata. 67 20.06%
No I personally wouldn't want one because I already have a coupe, but would like it built for others. 90 26.95%

That's not one of those let's take our successful coupe and cut the roof off. It was let's make a coupe and a convertible. For example look at the weight of the roof that's crazy it's barely weight anything they had some engineering in mind for this, I rather see this thing get made then not at all.

11th page look for big bold letters.

From what the polls look like right now the want the convertible is at about 80 ish because they either want a form of it, while about 50 ish people are more for the coupe, is the owner of one. I want to say about 5-10 people are somewhat angry and misinformed.
where's the 11th page? As I'm reading it now it only has 7.

nah you don't get it, it's like that because I have the forum set to display 40 posts per page instead of the forum default, so threads have less pages

So just alittle clarification to send out the real message which isn't too different and is still pretty good. I'm just excited as you are for the Convertible.[/quote]

Also add to this, Tada-san didn't care for open top.

ichi can you grab the whole thing and post it? from the first german interview to the talks with moto san to the last Tada interview. Just one part seems confusing. Thanks.

I think, German mag had a bit of miss-translation.

Even Moto-san stated, Tada-san wasn't planning on making open top back then, also Tada-san stated he don't like open top til he participated in Miata race

I love it! If I didn't have my coupe already I will probably get the convertible.

I really don't understand why people hate on verts. Maybe they don't want to be seen because they're too ugly? I dunno.

I just realized that I will probably get the convertible because it will be the easiest way for me to drive with a helmet and removable hardtops are the bees knees.

A hardtop convertible version is going to add too much weight and cost way to much. This thing it only going to cost at most (hopefully) $3k more than the base FR-S. Remember there is no other light weight 4 seater RWD convertible under $30k...

Lets hope this will come with the HIDs and everything we see here on this concept...when it is a FR-S or FR-S Release Series...I think Subaru should do a convertible too...but if they just go with an STI version with the 2.0 liter turbo...that is fine. I think that car, and this FR-S convertible in my garage would be pimp. I would take the BRZ Sti in WRB, and the FR-S convertible in white or asphalt.

Some cars don't need cabrio versions, the only reason the 2000 GT had one was because of Sean Connery. The AE86 never had a convertible. The XKE needed one because the hardtop looked goofy. This car doesn't need one but if some people want it they can have it. I'm keeping my car.
