I will be moving to STX in a bit, only plan on running Dixie this year (no other big events) so I'll check with my local competitors to see if they're okay with it if I find a bracket before I make the STX move. Im just tired of the bad seating position when wearing a helmet

My only issue with the car,....seat height,...even considered taking headliner down,...feel wise,... seems like a half an inch gain can be had,.....im down with anything that lowers seat height.

I'm very interested in this as well. Not only for tracking, but for daily driving too. I have to duck to be able to see traffic lights. Subscribed!

Tech might pass it, but that doesn't make it legal. Tech is for stuff falling off, not legality in Solo. And fwiw, the car is safe enough to pass government testing and all, so that's a hard argument to make (and one that would not pass a protest in stock). ST and up, have at it..... Stock, not legal.

So glad Im the size of a typical Asian man. 5'6" and never had an issue fitting in any Japanese sports car...or airplane seats. I consider myself "travel size".

If you look at rules for roll cages (not in pure stock classes), there's a spec for minimum clearance between the helmet and the bars, and it's definitely way more than 1/2". Safety would be for allowing a driver to move around in a crash without snagging their head on something and tweaking their neck.

I honestly can't imagine someone putting up a fight over this since it in no way helps the handling of the car.

I tend to agree that it should be a non issue, but I've seen people pull out rule books and argue the most tedious of regs in order to get their hands on a $2 trophy.

And FWIW, lowering a 90kg driver will help handling.

Sam is talking autocross, not tracking. Sam is 100% correct regarding Autocross rules (atleast with SCCA). No matter what the arguement, its not OE and therefore not legal to run.

I realize that, my point was simply that you could argue safety on the basis that a tall driver is too close to the roof and it could put them at risk.

As for lowering a 90kg driver down, it would be interesting to see where the weight of two very different sized drivers is and what it does to the CG. I would bet that a 6'4" 90kg driver sitting an inch lower doesn't have a measurable difference in CG compared to me at 5'8" ~65kg
