detailed summary of the track day I attended yesterday, available here.

In a nutshell, didn't crash, didn't break anything. Wet and slippery as hell. Got it loose plenty of times but didn't go off track, which is more than I can say for a lot of other drivers. The frequent off-track excursions resulted in lots of yellow and black flags, and shortened sessions.

Berk test pipe definitely gave me some added oomph on track. I have to admit I inadvertently hit the rev limiter a few times because the power delivery was so linear in the high rev range, I felt like I could have kept going. Maybe an ECU tune would be good as it would give me a slightly higher rev limit.

At the track they had a shop that was offering $25 for a single dyno pull that day, which was somewhat tempting. But I passed on it, was more interested in spending my time on track than pulling some numbers that may not mean much to me given I'm neither fully stock nor heavily tuned.

I will hopefully have some in-car video to share once I've had a chance to review it all.

Here's some on-track video. Never got a really clean lap in where I didn't have to slow down behind someone or didn't have to back off due to caution flags or to let someone pass. But despite the miserably cold rain it was a fun day.

Today I got my FiveAD spoiler painted and installed by RJ Paint & Body in Pleasanton. Because my car is WRB I had to buy an unpainted spoiler and get it color matched to my car. Super nice guys there and they did a great job. Mod cost: about $300 for 5AD spoiler with shipping; $162 for painting and install.

After a few weeks of driving on the Carbotech race pads, I just couldn't stand the noise (mad squealing and scrubbing sounds) anymore, so I switched back to the OEM pads tonight. I will just put in the race pads when I am actually going to the track.

The wife and I took advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend and drove down along the coast on Hwy 1 from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz. It was a laid back kind of day so we just got to enjoy the views and eat some great seafood.

Here are some shots from the coast.

Haven't updated this in a while. Not much new added to the car, installed the GrimmSpeed hood struts which are a nice touch and fairly easy to put on.

I've been going out for drives on the local backroads the past few weekends with fellow 86 owners. Doing what these cars were made for - DRIVING! Here are a few snaps I took along the way.

Diggin the spoiler. The FR-S/BRZ looks hot with the duck tail. Just some constructive criticism..your car has a lot of blue/black going on. I think the red tails stick out like a sore thumb. Ever consider smoking them black?

Nice work!!!

Thanks. I considered smoking them but wouldn't want them too dark to the point of ruining visibility of the lights. I just don't care for the stock clear look at all so to me the red was a big improvement. Looks OEM and like many other cars/makes with mostly red tails. Maybe at some point I will get some of the aftermarket tails like the Colin.
