I do not understand this idea in the least either.

"We no longer give you a key, now you have a block of plastic that takes up more space and you still must insert like a key. Progress!" It's like something gas stations attach to the ring so you don't steal the bathroom key.

My boss has the Tesla Model S and its "key" is shaped (and sized) like a little plastic, Hotwheels version of the car. If fits comfortably in your pocket and you just leave it in there and forget about it.

Buy an 86 keychain for the fob that has a rubber like coating and it will hold the fob in place while in the dash slot. I have this one for my keyfob.

As far as I'm concerned I would gladly give up the whole expensive key of any type for one I could easily go down to the store and have duplicated for $2. It's just silly....

Besides there is something satisfying about slipping my hand around the door handle, slowly pulling it open, slipping into the seat, gently pushing the key into the ignition, turning it and hearing Olivia moan to life and seeing the radio display "Lets Get Physical"

Wait, what were we talking about again?....

I would not give up the Push Button Start in the BRZ limited for anything....it simply works....but hey, to each their own. I almost bought a FR-S, so I believe I could have lived without the push button start, but hey, I would not be able to put in that cool JDM red STi start button...LOL!

the people that hate/decry/laugh at push button start wouldn't do so if their cars had it

don't front; if it were an option you would've gotten it but the only option was to buy subaru or not have it

Oh, I would like the pushbutton start for sure - just not enough to put up with the butter face.

I like it, but I don't care either way. I'm probably part of a small number that have driven a push button start and don't care.

The only value I got from push button starts where impressing people around me. The Push button on the BRZ/86 is in the lamest spot they could put it. With that said, I wouldn't want it even it was an option.

just saiyan

Not the only one, I don't care, either. I drive a BRZ and specifically chose a Premium over a Limited because of the push button start as well as a distaste for leather/suedeish seat materials. The Premium seats remind me of my last car's Recaros, which I loved, and I simply prefer starting my car with a key.

And before someone digs that I couldn't afford a Limited, my car has all of the exterior options that come standard on the Limited, as well as the diffuser, I probably only paid $800 less that was a Limited would cost, anyway.

Anyway...how BIG is this FOB?! Can I get a pic next to dollar or something?

I installed a push button start from a S2000 on my Civic Si. It definitely looked cool, but I rarely used it. I pretty much only used it when someone wanted to see it work. I can't lie though, if Scion offered it as an option, I probably would've gotten it, since it's a lot better then the S2000 push button start (which still required the key to be in the ignition).

Each is own brother. Our role isn't to condemn someone else for a differring opinion but to accept different views and welcome comments as well as constructive criticism.

The OP might have different feels than everyone else on the planet. But it's a pretty good sign that he isn't alone in his discomfort in where to place his key if Tom's actually produces a universal key holder for all of the Toyota models.
