Where do you put your smart key?

Where do you put your smart key on your 86?
mine usually ends up in the removable cup holder.

it would be nicer if there was an actual place to put it.

i dont like to have anything in my pockets in the car, because it might mark the seat or damage some material or foam..

Mine stays in the steering column! Hah!

FRS: 1 - BRZ/GT86: 0

what's this smart key you're talking about? and why do you need to ask where to put a "key"?

Frostyman 02-27-2013 05:45 PM

I put mine in my butt. That way it's always with me. But yeah... FRS doesn't have a smart key.

norsamerican 02-27-2013 05:48 PM

yup i put mine up my bum as well

nbafandan 02-27-2013 05:50 PM

the smart key holder...

... which is also up my bum

I think he's referring to the fact that there isn't a slot for the key fob for the keyless entry system. Like my other Bimmers, etc. had a slot for the key fob so you can insert it even though you have the keyless entry option. IMHO, it would be redundent to have a slot. I keep it in my pocket.

Ok, now the 86 owners are just rubbing it in.

Foobar 02-27-2013 06:32 PM

Wait, how would putting something in your pocket damage the seat? I think you're not giving your seat enough credit - it's designed to be sat on, it's not made out of some dainty silk lingerie type material - even then, a key fob in your pocket would hardly cause that any harm either.

In any event, use your front pockets, a key fob there shouldn't hurt anything. Or are the seats in the Toyota 86 designed differently and I'm confused by what we have in the US?

Nothing more boring then pressing a button.

I don't miss that from the Audi.

"Honey, I can't find my keys!"

"Check your asshole."

"Thanks!"

Push button start is the reason I bought premium over limited. If they added a slot to put your key into you might as well just have a regular key, and AFAIK dont you need to actually touch the key to the handle to unlock the doors? If you came into proximity and it unlocked it would make more sens because you could leave it in your pocket, but if you have to take it out of your pocket to get into the door then again, you might as well just push a button on the fob.
