I'm hesitate because before I read up on the car more I shared those feelings.
I'm becoming a bit more confident in the car based on all the reviews coming out on the test mule. Unless all the separate publications are in a conspiracy to pump up the excitement for the car, or the production version greatly differs from the test platform, it's shaping up to be the car everyone is expecting and hoping for.

Is pricing really that messed up in the UAE? Here in the States, a 135 costs about twice as much as the FR-S will. Plus the N54/55 is grossly overrated. The NA N52 is a much more charming (and reliable) engine, when treated properly.

I got the urge for a small RWD coupe after spending a weekend with a 128. Good, fun car (feels much more agile than the 135), but at least 300 pounds overweight. I've been waiting for the FT-86 ever since.

It's more fun to drive a slow car at 10/10ths than a fast car at 4/10ths.....at least on public streets with low speed limits.

i found a 128i ( no turbo ) for about 87k AED ( the currency here ) thats about 23-24k, this price range i the uae is considered pretty affordable because people get paid more so its reasonable, im pretty sure they will increase the price of the toyota to match its competition here since NO ONE buys the genesis coupe or the evos, i think it will be priced about 35-40k dollars here which is the same as the BMW 135i.

cars here got weird pricing different from other countries, and thats weird cause there is no tax here =/

if i had to choose, id honestly choose the BMW cause its more luxurious and doesnt attract as much attention as the FT-86.

[EDIT] the hatch 1 series here is such an epic fail here in the uae and you can get it for REALLY REALLY cheap cause no body wants to buy it, same thing goes for every hatch except the golf and the scirocco. they like big cars here, or sport cars like porches and ferraris. oh and lexus IS

Man I hope so. I sold my 99 Miata because I wanted a more practical car, but the RX8 just doesn't capture the joy the Miata had. I want a 2+2 that captures that Miata feel.

I may end up just having to get two cars, and buying another miata, or maybe an alfa romeo spider if they ever come to the US.

Not enough people purchasing might be another reason for the discontinuation of the RX-8.

Not many people buying the car because they don't want to experience RX-8 rotary oil consuming, bad mileage and etc. The car is fun to drive though.

No. Sales weren't great, but the real problem was increasing emissions standards, especially in Europe.

Sales were low and the RX-8 couldn't pass new Euro emissions. The typical RX generation is 8 years so it was time to end the model anyway.

I believe the RX-8 was the most successful RX generation to date. I think they might make a full sedan next time. There were rumors of a RX-9 which would likely be a bigger sedan and/or a RX-7 revival. We know they are working on a new Rotary and it's going to be bigger and better than the Renesis. But unlike Toyota they haven't announced anything yet.

Define 10/10ths in a slow car? I have driven cars more powerful at 4/10ths and had more fun than my car at 10/10ths.
