I want the phone holder. This car looks like they could roll it out of a new space shuttle onto the moon or something, that interior is extremely white.

This concept likely has a smaller trunk than an NC Miata. The FR-S/BRZ trunk is a touch wider and significantly longer but not as tall as the NC's. (The NC does not come with a spare.) Since the concept kept the rear seats, the top will occupy about half the volume of the trunk, when down.
I agree 19 inch rims are not needed, but 18 inch light weight rims would be nice. They can probably get this convertible 86/FR-S out there for less than $30K and for less than 2850 pounds and it will sell.

Does not the Cayman cost more than the Boxster?

hmm Toyota gauges alot of reaction to the car by looking at social media and other forum related items etc etc. They are everywhere IMHO, I'm surprised to see so much negative reaction for this version in the place where I thought would have the most support for anything they come out with. With that said I roamed around today after being knocked out my Nyquil and really found that most of the other social media mediums seem to like this new version. Now the possibility that this is slotted under the Coupe and will cost you less, as a SCION ( like a Boxster to Cayman) Is a totally welcomed idea especially if with the roof and the reinforcements make this car as heavy as it's Automatic version. Which is barely... anything different honestly. You know I might not make any sense still lucid from the meds... just sayin... anyways long story short It probably wouldn't hurt us to have more of these out on the road and more sales means more money to develop the things people do want like a faster version etc. Some positivity would be nice.

I don't think the Boxster/Cayman is a good comparison. The Cayman is marketed as a separate model, and it typically includes more performance content. Also, Porsche can get away with pricing schemes that other, more mainstream, brands cannot. I think a better comparison, price-wise, would be a Japanse car such as the 370Z. Comparing equivalent trim levels (Touring) online, I see that the convertible Z adds about 6500 dollars over the hatchback. Certainly, the base Z is about 10 grand more expensive than the FR-S, so the price difference won't be that great, but I can't see Toyota pricing an 86/FR-S vert less than about 2 grand above the equivalent coupe.

Interestingly, the 370Z Touring vert is 170 lb heavier than the corresponding coupe. Both the Z and the 86 Open concept have power tops, but the one on the concept extends over two rows of seats, so, if anything additional bracing will be required. So I'd say that 2850 lb, being only 92 lb higher than the FR-S, is very optimistic.

OK. I missed that. I've never been a hard-core convertible enthusiast, so that kind of response amazes me.

If it doesn't come to America I won't complain. I would like that GT86 logo phone holder though.

Who said you need to? Think about it, while driving down the street, you see a hot chick driving FR-S vert. You know, you would give her 2 thumbs up
