Yes, its excessive. And no, I don't care....
Each person had a screen that's bigger than the 32" my Xbox is hooked up to.

Adopt me?

Sounds like they have one of the Mitsubishi DLP TVs. Those are nice too, and we thought about one of those (they are less expensive) but we have a problem with ambient light that tends to wash them out.

This is a Vizio E-Series and is less than 3" thick in the middle, less than an inch at the edges. We got it at Sam's Club for @$1,600. I honestly can't believe how (relatively) inexpensive these big panels are.

We were looking at the Sharp Quattron and had been saving up to get a 60" version of that. In the end though, we decided we didn't care about 3D and we couldn't tell the difference in the picture when they were sitting side-by-side in the showroom so we opted for bigger instead.

Sharp has a 90" LED/LCD now (around $10,000!) that is just huge. I don't have a wall big enough for it. Plus you could buy 4 of these for the same price.

So I take it you like it? I've heard raves about the 60" and how the display quality is as good as many TVs that cost much more. Vizio's really kicking it up a notch, both here and with their computer products.

I told my wife that if we make bonus this year, I'm buying the 60. I'd go for the 70 but I think it'd look too big on the wall. And it'll probably have to go on the wall. My 42" already has fingerprints everywhere because my two year old can reach it.

I love it. The color/picture is stunning in HD, and it does as good a job I've seen scaling SD up to the 70". Also, it is amazing hooked up to a gaming console or PC.

Also, the apps are good as well. It has no issues playing Netflix our Hulu, and it easily plays media (pictures/videos/music) off a media server I have on my home network.

I've owned Vizio products in the past with no particular issues so I wasn't concerned about the brand. They have definitely stepped it up though.

My latest purchase.. Well, technically it's a company machine, but my IT director was awesome enough to say to us admins "here's your budget, pick out any machine you want." It was, imo, an astronomical budget.. As in if I wanted I could be rolling in a M18x. But I got tired of lugging around big computers, my last being an engineering Elitebook. So this is what I wanted the most. Played with it for a few hours so far, got my admin tools set up. I love it!
And yeah, the clock is very much wrong. It went wonky when I joined the domain over the VPN, lol.
