Yes not a gasket in the true sense of the word, but i have always heard them referred to as gaskets. I'm guessing from your inferences that gaskets aren't required that they do not come with any? Are you at all able to show pictures of the back face of one?

The Colin's do not have the "foam pad" behind them, and water runs straight in through small gaps between the housing and the metal, then into the spare tyre well. Causing massive problems with water in the rear seats etc...
I'm not concerned about water getting into the tails, that is a small chance.
I would recommend to anyone installing these to aquire/make their own seals using the waterpoof rubber-foam along the back edged in a gasket style. (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26217)

Sorry on mobile. Thought I referenced them.

It does come with it's own pad. I'll be sure to let everyone know if there are any issues with them.

They are truly plug and play and DOT approved.

I'm the one who posted that gasket DIY and have sent a bunch of pre-cut gaskets to people for the stock and Colin tails to fix the condensation problem.

The biggest problem with the stock gaskets is their lack of a true seal. There's just a piece of tape along the top edge and the pressure between the housings and the body panel isn't sufficient. Even sealing the stock gaskets (if new) with some 3M Automotive Weatherstripping Adhesive will help in preventing water from getting in by forming a water tight seal against the tail light housings. For my gaskets I'm using 1/4" thick closed cell neoprene (2mm thicker than stock) with the weatherstripping adhesive.

Can someone at Phastek take a picture of the back of one of the Valenti housings so I can make a template for these specific tails?

^ thanks. I take it these are all the smoked version correct?

Website show three options:

Chrome
Chrome with Smoked Lens (5072931) [Add $20.00]
Black (5072924)

I take it that the ones pictured above are the chrome with smoked lens ? Because they look like black and smoked to me..

Yes all smoked in that batch of pictures. So the smoked version is the chrome version with a smoked lens and not a black version with smoked lens. Just FYI for people who didn't know that.

We believe it was probably to keep them DOT compliant.

There is much more media, but we're in the process of installing the Vortech units that just came in. Lots to do around here.

Thanks for the help today Chris.
Make sure those bad boys go out the door tomorrow.
Smoked on my DGM BRZ is going to be sick. I'll post pics once they arrive.

Yea. That's what I went with. Hopefully mine got shipped last week, so when they come in I'll take some pics in my DGM. Don't think smoked with black was an option.
