I'm just tired of cars trying to look like other cars...

I like it, but I think Ford should have kept the retro look while giving this design to Lincoln. It's about time Lincoln comes out with an FR sports car.

I don't want to drive a Mustang that looks the same as a Fusion/Focus/Fiesta (Aston Martin.) It's a good looking car imo, but I do not feel that it is appropriate to the Mustang history.

It'll probably sell just as well, but I think it will be a different customer base than prior years. Which is fine from a business perspective, and perhaps a good idea to increase business overall. But kind of sad to see an already borderline "Muscle" losing a little more of it's "Muscle" heritage.

Anyway. That is where the similarity comes from. Although, I did read somewhere a while ago, that the designer himself denied that they were so similar. ( I don't know why? or... how you could deny it? ) but there you go.
I agree on a lot of what you said. I think Ford will get the design right. Its been stated that they are moving away from the retro look, but that does not mean muscle car look. If the car were to look like the first render, I do believe that is a move in the wrong direction. My favorite renders are the last two, which keep the muscle car look but are different from the current styling. Fords goal with the redesign is to capture new customers but still hold the current owners interests. It definitely is hard to keep everyone happy. I think with some modern styling, smaller and more refined body but still keeping true to its muscle car roots it will be a hit.

Can't wait for this summer when we can all see it!

I like some retro tributes for cars but some are a hit or miss.

So I'll just sit back and wait before I get too excited over the new Mustang. Here's to hoping for the best though. :happy0180:

I hope they have better luck then they did the last time they tried to do a major revamp of the Mustang line and install a turbo 4. Anyone remember the dark ages of the Mustang II and then the Fox bodies?

The styling looks promising and I would love to see the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger all downsize and lose about 500Lbs each.

It looks cool. Reminds me of a droopy old man... or a whale, I can't decide.

I really like the current gen though, lots of straight lines, looks very aggressive, screams (modern) muscle car.

This one looks like it grew up... along the lines of a BMW or Audi, but it's not one. I don't really like the direction it's headed. It's a 'nice looking car' but not muscle car imo.

Wow! If that's your bag then save some $$ and hit up the local hospice and take some poor guy whale watching.

I've been in the auto industry my whole life...never heard anyone compare something they think is "cool" to an old man or a whale let alone both in the same sentence.

Agreed on the fact that Ford needs to leave the Aston Martin grill and styling to Aston and come up with their own style. Hell, i don't like mustangs very much but to each their own.

Booo I certainly hope not. That there is a genuine Aston Martin/ Ford Fusion ripoff grill.

Mazda is notorious for their big goofy smile grill. That one feature alone guarantees I will never purchase a Mazda product (unless they give it away, and I still wouldn't be the primary driver)

Well, then they're gonna need to fire Chris Hamilton...which I don't see happening since he has designed some of the most beautiful cars ever made.

I think it's funny when people complain about it not looking like a muscle car. Does no one remember that the original wasn't really supposed to be a muscle car? It was a pony car. See the list here: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car"]Muscle car - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] .Which represented a smaller, lighter, more compact "sports car" option than the muscle cars. Traditional muscle cars were the Chevelles and Chargers and GTO's while pony cars (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger) were American companies trying to do a more European style small sports car. They still ended up rather large, but the idea was there.

Just because it's become a huge boat of a muscle car doesn't mean it always was or should stay that way. The original Mustang was by far the smallest and lightest of the original pony/muscle cars.

EDIT-I can't make it stop doubling up on the link. What the heck.

It would be nice to see a sub-2,500lb Mustang.

What? U wanna see a mustang that weighs 150+ pounds less than a frs? Even with a turbo 4 base model I don't see how that could be physically possible from the factory.
