Drive Routes

Alright so i have been looking for some good old twisty roads to take my BRZ on in the tristate area, and i couldn find a good website/blog/forum that discussed that. There are some disconnected threads out there but wouldn it be better if we have it all in one place!? So i thought this might be a good way to collate all the information we come across so that others can use it too! Here s one from me.

Location : Somerset/Watchung County, NJ
Distance : Short, 11.5 Miles
Time : About 30 mins

Start : Intersection of Washington Ave & Rt 22
(Search this on Google Maps : U.S. 22 & Washington Ave Green Brook Township, NJ 08812)

End : Intersection of Glenside Ave and Tracy Dr
Search this on Google Maps : Glenside Ave & W R Tracy Dr, Summit, Union, New Jersey 07092)

Best Time for the drive : Early Mornings/Late Evenings just before dusk

Description : This route takes you through Washington Rock and Watchung Reservation. The place is very pretty in summer and especially in the rain, but the drive is always good! On a cloudy day there is so much fog here in the mornings that it doesnt feel like you are driving in central NJ! Considering how populated this part of NJ is, this little drive gives you the exact opposite feeling. So anyone who is eager to take their BRZ/FRS out on a drive but doesnt have too much time to go to places that are far, this might give you a little relief. You can stop at the washington rock for some good views of NJ and Manhattan skyline from a distance. There are some hiking trails in watchung reservation that are beautiful too!

Hope this helps!

l'd imagine so. I think it's a solid idea to include a Google Maps link in these kinds of posts, to make it clear where the drive is. Not just a picture, the link you get from the link button in the top right of the left pane.

These may help since motorcyclists look for similar roads.

In CNY rt. 13 between Cazenovia and Chittenango roughly 10 miles. Most of the road follows a gorge/river. Very fun drive if you are in the area. Best during the day time as possibility for deer at night/evenings.

Key in Cazenovia, ny and Chittenango, ny and it will pop right up.

16.2 miles of fun! Mostly passes through state parks and a few different private camp grounds. This run is ONLY good off-camping season.

My top speeds through from Rt 17 to Downsville;
2000 MB CLK 320 = approx. 120mph
1994 MB C300 = approx. 105mph
2004 Acura RSX = approx. 97mph

Not done it with the FR-S yet. Soon.

First Leg

[ame="https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Main+St&daddr=CT-79+S%2FN+Madison+Rd+to:Water+St&hl=en&ll=41.41145,-72.43711&spn=0.012794,0.025578&sll=41.411787,-72.43535&sspn=0.012794,0.025578&geocode=Fea6eAIdYA Gr-w%3BFeNEeAIdE26r-w%3BFVrkdwIdfaWu-w&t=m&mra=mi&mrsp=2&sz=16&z=16"]Main St to Water St - Google Maps[/ame]

Here's a little route in CT I drive every now and then when I need to get away/take a break from things.

Location : Durham, CT/Chester, CT
Distance : Short, 16.6 Miles
Time : About 35 mins

Start : Durham Dairy Serv on Main St. in Durham (Rt. 17)

End : Near the Connecticut River Ferry in Chester, CT

Best Time for the drive : Afternoon (not a really busy road so any time is good but the Afternoon is my favorite)

Description : Took my Evo for a blast down this road (25 mph speed limit for the first section transitioning to 40-45mph about a third in) years ago and enjoyed it. Sought it out again when I got the FRS and it works beautifully.

Second Leg

[ame="https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Water+St&daddr=CT-81+S%2FHigganum+Rd+to:CT-80+W+to:CT-80+W%2FOld+Toll+Rd+to:Main+St&hl=en&ll=41.415955,-72.565727&spn=0.204686,0.409241&sll=41.467183,-72.678611&sspn=0.001598,0.003197&geocode=FVrkdwIdf aWu-w%3BFdmJdwIdxcSs-w%3BFTgTdwIdAbus-w%3BFc3-dgIdVWWq-w%3BFSe7eAIdTQGr-w&mra=dme&mrsp=4&sz=19&t=m&z=12"]Water St to Main St - Google Maps[/ame]

Secondary Route that I tack onto the first when I wanna take a longer drive.

Starts at the end of route 1 and ends at the start of route one but takes you down some 50mph, lightly traveled and beautiful state routes.

Distance : Medium, 26.7 Miles
Time : About 45 mins

Blah, there are a few good roads that I know about, but they really aren't that long to mention, and they can be full of cops.

Someone list some good driving roads near me!

Well more like the road by Bear mountain bridge. Amazing road, but can be full of cops at the right time of day.

The local ones near me barely have any traffic, let alone cops.

Well it's a good thing I wasn't pulled over for doing 100+ on it at like 2am in the morning. But everyone else was like doing 90+!
