Most places do not even offer a car equipped with manual gearbox. My driving test was literally four right turns and back into the parking lot. In a slushbox. It taught me nothing about really driving.

This is awesome. If we don't start getting kids to like manuals, they'll be gone in a few years.

There is a driving school near me where you can pay a little extra to have instruction in a mustang, or a few other sporty cars. I think its a great idea, however I certainly wouldn't be forking out the extra money if it were my kid.

My driver's ed guy had a Civic Hybrid. I punched it and he and I both started laughing at the horrid acceleration. I learned in my old GS400 and then going from that to the Civic was just awful.

That's what I thought, with the number decals, rims, and hardcore towhook. I'm guessing there's been some engine mods done on it too.

My drivers ed car was a mid-90's vintage nissan. It was so beige and econo-spec that I can't even remember anything about it.

Nope engine is stock he said. Only mods were the teacher brake pedal and 90 lbs of weight with the tow hook.

I understand the extra brake pedal, but why did they hang a bunch of weight out past the rear bumper? Surely they are not towing with the car.

My guess would be to protect the rear bumper in the event of a collision.
