Good for them. Maybe they are actually teaching young drivers how to handle a car, not just how to drive around the block in a slushbox.

I'm not gonna lie though, I would have been so excited if this was the car I took my 6 hours training in.

Oh my god...

brzadrian 02-25-2013 02:20 PM

dood thats awesome!

Trashed675 02-25-2013 02:22 PM

Now thats just not fair, when i was 15 my driving school car was a late 90's buick lasabre

Pretty awesome they are teaching kids to actually drive the sort of cars they might actually buy though.

MVJ1975 02-25-2013 02:23 PM

Looks like they're using it to teach new drivers how to drive a manual transmission. It's a pretty good choice for that, honestly.

Did my training in a manual Scion x?, whatever the little hatch was. It's a Toyota for less than $30k, it will be used for many abhorrent things over the next decade or two.

Does anyone else see any similarities to the long hood early Porsche's ('64-'73)? They will be abused and trashed for the next three-four decades, bought and sold for pocket change, and in five you might be able to sell it for break even if it's clean.

How will they ever fit more than one student in there at a time??

wbradley 02-25-2013 02:41 PM

Drive that around town and guess which school the kids will want to sign up for? Smart!

My driving school teacher had a mid- 70's AMC Concorde DL. :(

I did most of my training one on one with my "instructor" aka lady who told me I'd killed us every time I didn't check my mirrors right. :bellyroll:

That's about the only thing I learned.

Oh, and it was a mid-90's Malibu. :barf:

I would totally have signed up for that school when I was that age. I think I was in an old Camry back in the day

LeeMaster 02-25-2013 03:59 PM

Lucky students.

That was my first thought too.. I saw STD SHIFT and thought "whoa seriously? They are teaching kids how to drive a proper manual transmission still??"
