The term "roadster" may include convertibles in general in German, I'm not sure. In the US the term is reserved only for convertibles with 2 seats, I think. The MR-S is the only production roadster I can think of to ever wear a Toyota badge unless you count the targa-topped Toyota Sports 800 as a roadster. The Supra is a coupe BTW.

The use of the term "roadster" may also imply the FT-86 may need to sacrifice the rear seats in order to store the retractable top, which I hope is not the case.

I guess they are following the LFA route then. This really is turning out to be a poor mans LFA if this continues.

He was probably speaking of the targa top variant.

@250 hp the car would become significantly more interesting, but I'd hold the applause 'til it happens.

I definitely want the 250 hp version with the convertible top! A 370z roadster deal fell through this year and I was l looking at miatas. I think this car will give me everything I want in a 250 hp + drop top.

That's the High-Spec version...you can see the LED running lights in the headlight too.

I actually hope they make it two seater. Convertibles look better if they are roadsters..ie Two Seaters.

If they can keep the weight down...say 100 more for the Roadster version of the FT-86 and put in 250 HP...and make it a two seater...and make the top cloth and power. And price it in the upper $20k range.....We got a winner. Maybe Honda will then bring back an updated S2000...

Me I am going for the coupe, first model year, and if a 250HP version comes out in 2 to 3 years, I will trade up.
That's how the 350z was when it first came out; '03 was the fastback followed by the roadster in '04 so it could be possible.

I agree a 2 seat roadster looks much sportier than 4 seats.

Mari0 those headlight ARE the Modellistas!
Black housing, yes, BUT chrome surround on the HID,
they just taped it off so you dont see the chrome.
I wish it was ALL black! Even the LED housing~

Good that I plan to wait until early 2013 to get the car. I will have to see what kind of game Toyota/Subaru is playing with the buyers.
