As a former G8 owner and current BRZ owner I can provide pretty good reason why I'm not interested in the SS. There so much this car could have been that it isn't. Please read my blog post on it on my new Kinja blog "Killin' Cones" :

I take it all have you have driven the new Chevy SS then?

Oh, no?

Then all the posts on this thread are worthless.

What's funny is the Whitlow car dealership group here in VA had a Chevrolet dealership next to their Lexus branch but lost it due to politics and the end result is they'll be alot better off with only Lexus now. I wish things weren't so political but they are.

I know right? Look at all of these cars using antiquated technology.. Things like the internal combustion engine and rubber tires.

The powertrain and drivetrain are identical to a G8 GXP. I've driven them they're beasts. I owned a GT with the same power. The point is they missed the mark by not offering a manual. The 6L80E, albeit a strong transmission, is not very refined and will require a warranty voiding tune to rectify. GM is notorious for sloppy shift points and soft line pressure that createa mushy shifts. Im a GM fan boy to the max but the guys who are goinf to buy the SS are the same guys who buy Camaros and ruin them.

Let us not forget the pain that the Impala has suffered:

And the Monte Carlo:

And Caprice:

It's a shame that it's always the domestics that get this treatment (I've seen an SC430 donk too, but it's primarily the domestics).

I do feel like there not being a manual version is going to contribute to this issue, same reasons the ZL1 got bastardized:

See a clutch? No? Good, now it can be bastardized by someone who isn't an enthusiast.

I'm beating the horse to death here. But you can't have an enthusiast's performance sedan without a manual transmission, I don't care how you cut it.

They're not offering a manual with the SS? They've confirmed this? It's sold with a manual in Australia, the VE model-- and the VF will be the same. The G8 GXP was manual-available (was it exclusive?)...

So glad we don't have "Donks" out here.

First time I was exposed to them, was when I went down to South Beach for vacation a few years ago... They were all over the strip mixed in amongst the teenagers in exotics and the stretched busa's.

I love the Camaro (looks wise) but maaaaan does that car get a lot of horrible people doing disturbing modifications to that thing.

Camaro crowd's lucky to have such an extensive aftermarket though. Just wish there was more tasteful modding done.

Anyway, after 3 GM lemons.... the last one being my 2010 Camaro... I wouldn't own a GM vehicle as my only ride. And won't be buying one anyime soon... As tempting as a 1le is.

The chevy SS doesn't do it for me at all.

I'd rather be caught in a donk then any stretched tired "stanced" car ever.. Period

When I was growing up this was cool

Now they just changed the rims and all a sudden it's stupid

Same suspension setup for the most part.. But because the rims are 30" instead of the tires it's an abomination.. I don't get people.. Instead of admiring the work that someone else put into THEIR ride.. People feel the need to talk shit about it..

A lot of what gets me is the work that doesn't get done, that's why I don't generally like donks. Or 'stanced' cars on camber plates and cut springs. Give me coilovers or give me death!

I agree.. That's my problem with stance cars.. It's so cut up and most the time unsafe.. So far the donks I seen and the people I knew in South Georgia they was just the suspension from full size trucks.. So pretty much just as safe as a truck.. But to tall for the bumpers and stuff to work properly.. And those 30" rims weight so much the car doesn't wanna stop for shit..

Not in the US. Holden gets all the fun again. The GXP had one and they only built about 600-700 with a 6 spd. They are really rare. They might eventually offer it but not right off the bat.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTGR6IAYQAc"]My issue with stanced cars in a nutshell.[/ame]

Just isn't practical, and I don't think it does anything for the appearance of the car. It just looks like you don't understand how suspension works.
