FYI I did, $25,255 + Tax title licence + Dealer doc fee. An unpleasant customer experience reflects poorly on the company as a whole, I was not a difficult customer I just wanted what was advertised with no bullshit. I will plan my future financial decisions accordingly. |

And before some of you start telling me how "I got screwed", I conned the dealership into giving me $2000 over what my trade-in was worth so it was a wash. Scott

The dealers here in North Alabama know that the FRS is a very sought after car right now and there isn't the competition between dealers that there are in more metropolitan areas. Basically it translates into they can charge what they want and they know it. Sure, I could have waited for the hype to die down a bit but and save some money but my BMW was falling apart and I REALLY wanted an FRS. They really did get screwed on my trade with the extra $2000 they gave me for it. That car needed at least $4000 in mechanical and electrical repairs before it could have been sold. ![]() Scott

Lol so basically the no haggle pricing is to ensure we dont bargain down the price. Not insure than the price is kept from going up. Touche scion. Touche.

This kind of strategy always works both ways - it can favor you if you're smart, or it can favor the dealer if you're dumb. |

Incidentally, Car Max has the same policy for their used cars. The price on the window is the price you're going to pay regardless of how unreasonable it may be. Scott

I paid $24.7k on Labor day, but I swear I they new it had the bad ECU 'cause the CEL came on 5 minutes into my 3 hr dive home. Luckily I have good faith in Toyota and drove it patiently waiting for a letter in the mail, I think I was the first on this forum to predict it would be an ECU replacement. Glad i stuck with it and didn't let some scion mechanics tear apart the engine. Honestly now that that's behind me I am more enthused about the car than I was when I first bought it. This thing is fun to drive to work!

All the words were getting capped because I was using my phone and didn't download Tapatalk yet. Problem solved now and Swype works now too.
The add-on's from the dealership aren't just pure added profit. It always had to be something. I understand that things like paint protector products and $300 for window tint isn't always seen add the best money spent but it's something. I remember when the PT Cruiser just hit people absolutely lost their minds. I knew someone personally who paid $2000 ADP. (additional dealer profit) that's how it listed on the buyers order. That car was a piece of shit! Be glad at least "pure price" protects against that! At least you have to get something for the add-ons. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

You have some reading to do. Pure Price isn't what you think it is. I believe 99% of the sales people at the dealerships don't even know how it works based on every conversation I've had with them on it. I can't tell you how many times I've heard them say "we HAVE to sell at MSRP, Scion makes us". Bullshit, it says otherwise right there on their website and Scions main website that the dealer can set any price they want. Ask them about floor mats being included... ![]() . . . edited to add: Scion has amended their website to no longer include the words "dealers are free to set their own prices" when viewing the Pure Price tab from their main site. It used to be the last line of the PP Definition. Some of the local websites still have the wording, while others have since changed theirs too, to the edited version. I wonder if they've been reading our complaints against the absurdity of calling this trash system of car buying favorable to the consumer. Hopefully when BRZ production catches up and you can buy one for invoice(which puts it BELOW the FR-S and it's screw you pay MSRP attitude), things might change. I paid 24,200 tax title license and all. Only because Toyota gave it to me for that because of a major screw up at another dealer.

When I bought a used car a couple weeks ago through Toyota dealer(Pure Price), I told the salesguy that I was in the military. He respected that and after a few negotiation with the flaws of the car with dents and dings he and his manager ended up giving me $1,000 off the price of the car.
I guess it really has to come down to who your salesman is and who you are dealing with. Some salesman will try to take as much out of your pocket as possible, and some have the potential to help out. You just got to find the right one

I have read most of this post and must say that I have had nothing but great treatment from Toyota/Scion dealerships in NY and in Pa..bought 2 Toyotas in Westbury NY and a Scion Xb in Hanover Pa plus my Fj Cruiser and FRS in Mechanicsburg Pa. Everyone was straight shooting and easy going. I DID go armed with enough info to know what i was doing every time and I am sure that helped
