Scion Pure Price Haggling?

I know scion has their pure price to avoid haggling but has anyone haggled the out the door price?

I noticed a lot people paying 27500 otd for this car and I feel like there's room to go lower.

Im sure dealers say their bs exscuses of this car sells like hot cakes hype and sell it to someone whos willing to pay full price

MSRP for the FRS is 24.2 before Delivery charge and their invoice is 22.9.

They only make $1300 on the sale of the car unless they add a bunch of "options" for you like "rear bumper applique!"

Considering the difference between MSRP and Invoice, I think your chances at getting it below MSRP in 2012 is pretty dim.

Best place to negotiate is on a trade in. That's what I did.

If you don't have one then it's pretty cut and dry. If they are charging you for Vin etching you can usually get that removed and the doc fee is negotiable.

You can try, but I'm 99% sure they will use the Pure Price initiative as their comeback, and send you on your way.

It's hard to haggle when the next guy is willing to pay the pure pricing. Unless this car has been sitting on their lot for a long time, I doubt they'd budge on the msrp.

Call me stupid, but I like Pure Pricing.....I didn't feel like I was getting cheated. Felt as if I was walking into a Best Buy and buying a T.V. and leaving.

My parents are the BEST at negotiating with salespeople. That being said, we were able to get like a hundred off of my monthly payments. We got lucky because they car I test drove and wanted had an imperfection in the rear carpet lining (it wasn't fastened correctly and was sticking out pretty noticeably. Also my parents heard the "noise" of the DI system and used that as a negotiating weapon too. :fighting0040:

I decided to keep my mouth shut for that part since the salesperson and even her manager weren't savvy enough on the car to give any sort of rebuttal. I have a feeling they didn't want to deal with having to send it back and any re-stocking bs it would have been so they buckled. I also have a sneaking suspicion that my particular Toyota wasn't doing so well since their lot has barely changed in months and they have had "Help Wanted" signs up the whole year.

So I guess if you want to haggle, you have to pretty much hope for the right factors to line up. After all was said and done, I just had the carpet imperfection fixed up with the warranty at another dealership.

I personally hate the idea of "Pure Price". It's basically a shield dealers can hide behind to mark up their cars.

Pure price isn't meant to be a shield for the sales department to steal money from you lol it supposed to be a tool to make the car buying experience easier for you...negotiating is annoying and if your given a fair price that you would have ground your way down to anyways it saves you time and frustration... It also keeps the resale value of the vehicle you purchased higher...if there are never sales or rebates then the used car values are not as affected as much as they would be with other cars...I don't know why some dealers are trying to mark up the price but it's not really in line with pure pricing... They are using a loop hole and I think it's sleazy

Mommy and Daddy for the win!

If you financed for a five year term that means that you got the car $5,000 off the original asking price.

Seems a little far fetched to me. Unless they had marked the car up 5k.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree. $100 off monthly payments IS a lot. When working on financing, every extra $1000 I added on only reduced the price by like $20-$30 dollars a month. So $100 off a month would equate to around $4000-$5000 overall. Not sure if a dealer would sell an FRS for UNDER invoice.

You beat me to it! Even if it was just 36 months, that is still $3,600. That is a lot to get knocked off of the price (unless, like you said, it was marked up).

You guys aren't factoring in APR. Sure they took $100 a month off...from a whopping APR to a lower APR.

That's not how you haggle car purchases. The APR should have been finalized beforehand.
