My wife is a car enthusiast so she is ok with me purchasing it.
She is also very attracted to those hot import models(Meaning she also needs a good looking car so she can impress the ladies).

I asked my fiancee how she felt about me buying it since we're paying for our own wedding. It helps to make her feel important in your life which can only help you in the long run. If you don't even bother to just let her know, you're opening yourself up to some sort of retaliation down the line. Imagine her coming home after a $25k shopping spree.

It's also better to ask just so that you're both on the same page and surprise costs don't sneak up on you just as you pull the trigger. It would be pretty bad if you came home with an FR-S and your spouse throws a fit because she wanted to surprise you that she was pregnant with your first child. Happened to a friend of mine with his 370Z, it is a horrible position to be in.

It's not so much of a "My money, your money" situation when it comes to a big purchase like a car. It's more "What kind of position will this leave us in?"

I had shown her the car in the dealership along with the Camry SE and Scion TC. She definitely liked the look of it, but, said that I should get the TC over the Camry. She didn't think that I would get the opportunity to drive the FR-S.

When I finally got a chance to test drive one, I had been talking about the car for some time. Afterwards, I think that she humoured me in going for a second test drive with her. It was then that everything just fell in place. The dealership was willing to give me a reasonable price for my trade in Corolla XRS, the insurance was cheaper, and we actually fit a car seat in the back.

The only question then was whether to order one of my top three colours that I liked at the time (Asphalt, Ultramarine, or Hot Lava) or go with the Firestorm sitting right there. The wait was going to be about three months if I ordered and two days for the Firestorm. I have to say that Firestorm looks much better in person than in most pictures and I couldn't wait, I just loved the car too much to wait.

My wife has always been supportive of things that I feel passionate about (and I think she secretly likes that we look good driving in it). She was supposed to be the voice of reason to prevent me from spending money on cars I don't "need". There was only one small stipulation - daddy could get his toy as long as we go to Disney.

We are of course doing it all - live while you are relatively young and healthy.

My fiancé actually helped me find an FR-S. And she told me I could have a mod budget. Jackpot? I think so.

Yup, I get a stipend for upgrades as well. That's what happens when you have a respectful relationship and are with someone who is treated like a partner - you find ways you can both win.

My G/F was supportive from the start. I had an 08 Jetta that I thought was a chick's car. The car ran good, but I wanted a sports car. Started looking at new/used cars. When I stumbled on the twins I knew I wanted one. I just settled into my new job about 6 months ago so I knew I was there for the foreseeable future. She wanted me to happy and she agreed I earned it with hard work.

I got my car "used". According to the dealer a guy bought it without telling his wife and then had to return it with 200 miles on it.

Am I the only girl on this forum?

Anyway, the boyfriend kept telling me I should get a Ford Edge. More practical, blah blah. He's not a car guy so I understand. But when he saw how much research I put into my decision, and how excited I was, he got on board. Now he asks me to drive everywhere we go, haha!!
