Awesome feedback guys! I've actually only using JS and HTML, but have started looking into Ruby/Ruby on rails and Python myself. I'll most likely be asking questions when I get stuck. I don't consider myself a programming pro, yet, but I'm building towards it.
This thread is full of win.

CS major here with about a year and a half left, although i've never been terribly fond of writing code. I've got experience with dreamweaver/HTML, C++, and Java. I'd much rather be doing graphical work then writing code. PS/Illustrator/Maya are more up my ally.

Does scripting count?
I used VBScript a lot in the past, but powershell is fantastic. Debugging is a bitch and my regex still sucks. I may not be a programmer, but I am an automater. |

I'm a C# MVC dev (mostly back-end stuff). I'd be surprised if there aren't a shed ton of developers on here. Aussie car forums are usually chock full of them, cars seem to be a common attraction for programmers.
I've toyed around with coding since my parents bought their first computer and I found out there was a way of making the text on an Atari 64 console a different colour. Kinda bounced between system administration and programming for quite a few years and decided to specialise in .NET web development about 12months ago because my salary had reached the point where the only way to go up without moving into management was to start specialising. |

I do find it interesting that most people that I've been in school with or work with, at some point or years before college had interacted with a computer by means other than simple dos commands or ui interaction.....I just kinda had it in my mind I'd either do pharmacy or CS having no real idea what coding even looked like.
CS fortunately worked out .I think one of my favorite things is threading and efficiency. Then again I enjoy optimization in general.....yet I tend to complicate things every now and then lol. Or perhaps I just mean laziness....as having the satisfaction of writing what would have been 10 lines of code or more in 2 lines is less work. As far as db stuff goes I need to look back at document db stuff and see where that's going. I remember mongo being pretty neat a few years ago.

I've dabbled in multiple prog. languages over the years. Like others, I started with HTML back in the 8th grade (when PCs where just entering into the households). I've done Python, Java, VB, C, Korn Shell Scripting, and other very small things. I have to admit though, I never really got into any one particular language and never really stuck with learning it in depth. I'm going to try and pick up on it again..thinking C# so that way i can possibly do iPhone apps and such.

So when is that freeware ECU flashing software for the BRZ coming out boys? I have a BS in CS, but I don't really get to do any programming. I did write an awesome datalogger for Honda OBDI cars using Uberdata or Crome using .NET C# back in the day.
