Is this a software bug for proximity key cars?

This definitely has to do with the door opening while the car is still on (or key in ignition for a Premium model). The reason I didn't think so previously was because when I park on my driveway, I open the door to check how close I am to the edge of the driveway THEN close the door, then park, then turn the car off. For some reason it appears that the car notices the first door open event, but does not confirm the door close event. Odd. Will continue to try various permutations of my parking ritual and report back.
To those unsure of this beeping noise: it's completely different from the "you left the lights on" constant tone. |

I have tracked this down and attributed it to how fast I open the door after turning the car off. Apparently, fast enough to make it think that I opened the door before the car was fully off.

Slow down and "smell the roses". You may want to consider turning engine off first, then the e-brake. This may delay your opening the the door too early. You may have your personal reason for applying e-brake before engine-off but to each his own.

I park on a steep incline. I go up the incline, press the clutch in, press the brake pedal, engage the parking brake, let go the brake pedal, turn the car off, release the clutch pedal. I've never believed there's anything wrong with my procedure, care to clarify?

I believe you just HAVE clarified. You had never mentioned parking on a "steep incline".

I've noticed the same thing on our BRZ. I'll stop, pull the ebrake, turn off the engine, take out the key, open the door, then hear the beeping. The first time it did it, I was really confused, since I had the key out of the ignition, the lights were off and everything. Our car is a Premium.
It sounds like it's coming from the alarm beep, not the "you left the key in the ignition" beep. |

I need to remember to have my alarm enabled when I go to the dealership on Monday. I have no idea what either beep sounds like since I don't have an actual ignition cylinder/key. I do know what the "Moron, you left your lights on!" constant tone sounds like though! |

Haha, thanks for the assist anyway. I recall it was a tricky procedure with opening doors and closing doors...I'll just let them push the button on their Subaru Select Monitor.

The beeping is there to remind you how awesome your car is.
I dance to the beeps.

Revived a 3 year old thread just to say that, lol. Hope he wasn't holding that in the entire time. To contribute, beeping still occurs in the 2017 BRZ.
