I guess all dealer experiences are different. I was just sharing my friends experience that happened last Friday. There are probably some good dealers out there somewhere lol

okay to be fair i'd like to address something.
I work for a honda dealership as an advisor. We are not to be "Technically" correct as the advisor was just doing his job. All we do is advise, so if you bring a tire in with a nail puncture we set up the appointment and work order, we then HAND it off to the technician to "Check and advise". the technician then shows us and explains to us WHY the tire is not able to be repaired. in your case its because it was too close to the sidewall as per your dealership. I find it weird because the car is new i'm pretty sure you should have had some sort of tire warranty to begin with. secondly its in the general interest ( well for me anyways ) to care about YOUR safety, i definitely would have not liked to say "yes we can patch it" then a day later you come back with a bent rim and a blow out because you could imagine how much any customer would have yelled and complained about the service advisor. it's easy to be a customer.. you need to keep in mind how its like to be on the other side of the gun. |

I don't know how they are out in Cali, but the DCH Scion near me is pretty good. I'd check them out, there's a couple close to LA.

Im not a dealer but Id like to add to this.
Here in West Australia, and rest of the world im sure, the dealers generally have the same 'image'. Ive certainly been treated badly by many over the years, especially when I was younger and not confident enough to speak up. However dont forget one thing, We as the customer are shopping for the best price on identical products across the dealers. We only care about the lowest price, honestly how many would pay more just because one particular dealer offers great service and facilities. Of course there are exceptions but generally, we as the buying public are trying to screw the dealers out of the lowest price, and just when the dealer has triend their best to satisfy us, we end up buying the same car from someone else and shipping/transporting/driving it back. HOw do you think that makes the dealers feel? |

joe schmoe tire shops will stop at nothing to make 20 bucks and fix a non repairable flat by sticking a rope plug govered in glue into a hole. They don't care about safety, reliability, or you. They only care about that 20 bucks. Wanna know why? Because they are loosing business to big tire companies and will take any money they can get.
Just take it to Discount Tire / Americas Tire. They will do it for free. |

Everybody thinks the "stealerships" are out to screw them, i'm sure some are but it depends on management and how honest the people working there are. I have been working in dealerships for 10 years and you have to remember we are trying to make a living too, to be honest if you come in with a nice attitude you will most likely get a better deal.
