I'm still not convinced the IR LEDS do anything. The night videos posted were in fairly lit areas. 6 LEDS isn't going to be wide enough nor powerful enough, but that's what headlights are for.

I'm eventually going to get a Blackvue soon though.
Right on! I was thinking that that IR LEDs were more for when you have your car parked with no other light source, so you can illuminate people/objects when "seen" by the motion detector (stupid idea though, if they're using photo-voltaic cells. Since us humans don't naturally glow, unless they're from thee-mile-island or something. Lol).

Though I've gotta say, now that I've been kicking the idea around in my head about a DVR & Rearview Mirrors and whatnot, I've been toying with the idea of seeing how much room is inside our existing mirrors. Maybe mount a camera of some sort onto the back of the mirror, and use a raspberry pi to make our own little cheap, good quality, DIY DVR...

JDM Frameless mirror appears to have some space to fit a small camera...

No idea about the JDM mirror, but I'll take a look at mine since I'm NA.

That is pretty darn attractive. I want a dash cam; however, I don't want it sitting in my window all day. If there was a way to mount it somewhere hidden, and still have it record, I would be in heaven. This does come pretty close; although I would oddly miss my OEM mirror.

True. Kinda went on a research/brain-storm rampage last night, wound up finding this:

http://www.smarthudsystem.com/

How awesome will this be!? Already contacted the company, they're still putting together their team, and are looking for fundraising. Hopefully it'll become a reality soon. Either way, I'm probably going to rig up something HUD wise now. Been looking into that Microvision ShowWX+ laser pico projector. The gears are grinding in my head now...

ANYWAYS, still plan on figuring out putting a home-brew DVR dashcam into our stock rear-view mirror.

Anyone know if this is multitask capable? like GPS at the same time as running the Dash Cam?

yea its the blackvue DR400 or DR500. Both have a parking mode that enables when there is motion sensed. I don't know if older models have the parking mode or not but i know these 2 do for sure, just bought a DR500 myself. haven't installed it yet though.
