New trd intake

not sure if anyone has posted this or anything but this was on car buzz

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2013/2/1...-Race-7712893/

That, as you might have guessed, comes down to the award-winning Scion FR-S (known as the Toyota GT86 in other markets), which Toyota Racing Development has tweaked for competition. The enhancements include upgraded exhaust, intake, clutch, suspension, brakes and 19-inch wheels. The car was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show this past weekend. Each of the 25 cars will be identically equipped, and while the entry list has yet to be announced, past years have included A-listers from Keanu Reeves to Queen Latifah and John Elway to Cameron Diaz. A donation will be made on the winner's behalf to the Racing for Kids foundation.

So, it's a stock airbox with TRD letters on it. Let me guess, $600???

I could be wrong (but I'm not) but that's not a stock airbox.

Looks like it gets rid of the resonator and sound tube in favor for a much larger filter box. I won't even claim to know much about intakes but it looks like the MAF is better located too, someone else can confirm.

I'm willing to bet this puts down as much or more power than the currently available CAI setups from perrin, fa20club etc. But yes as FR-S Matt suggested, at a much higher and unnecessary price tag.

I don't get it. How can TRD release parts like this and the door stabilizer? (besides blatantly gouging) The stock airbox and door latch should have been TRD equivalents in the first place.

No need to shoot the messenger...

You don't have to be a genius to see that it is just a much bigger panel filter, which *should* allow easier air flow.
