Some observations

fitted the scangauge on the 86 over the weekend and observed a few things after a few days driving.

- the stock intake is quite good. on the move it's around 4-5 degree above ambient temperature (reading off the external temp figure of the factory dash). which is pretty much similar to what my old Type R with a CAI installed.

- the water temp gets up quite quickly. it shows about 80 degrees after around 5 minutes of normal driving. once it's warmed up it's around 90 degrees and stays there.

Water temp rises quick due to the d-4s system for start-up benefits, port injector is used on the down stroke of the piston to create lean mixture then direct injector is used on the upstroke to correct the lean mixture and allows it to retard ign more than usual, increasing EGT and warming engine up quicker

Also im loving the fact that it only uses the direct port injector at high rpm, meaning there it more than enough fuel delivery between the 8 injectors for FI. Running only direct injector would mean the intake temps would be really REALLY low

dug this out of the grave to see if anyone here has played more with the scangauge, Ill have a mess when i have time, want to see if i can get oil temp up... the ecu does provide and you can program the scangauge to accept new gauges...

My oil temp gets to 100 at normal motorway driving. Gets up to about 120 pretty quickly on the track and peaks at about 124. Others here have had oil temp at around 130 on the track with the more aggressive track drivers hitting a peak of 140.

Not using scan gauge though, usng HKS OB-Link.

All of the above are in Celsius.

Water temp for me is like above - hits and stays at around 90 Celsius.

As the scan gauge uses the OBD2 port it will read the usual stuff but the 86 or BRZ doesn't use the standard PID code but rather a specific Toyota/Subaru one.
@andreyiv found the oil temp PID and posted it here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=123

If you can add this into the scan gauge then you may be in luck.
