Thanks guys... Glad some of you liked the project

And for those hated it, I appreciate your feedback and I hope to be able to impress you soon

I have driven this car with low boost (440whp @1bar) and was a thrill to drive. Handeling wasn't as bad as you guys think, the way it pulls makes you forget all the sacrifices been taken. There's also the sound of the screaming Inline-6, just amazing!

It is not the power that got my attention in this build, it is the attention to details. Keylless start, air conditioning, guages, engine temp... all felt OEM!

When deciding what threads to look at, the thread title is very important. Probably a good idea to put "2JZ transplant" in the thread title. That way, you won't get the same reaction a Thai ladyboy gets from an unsuspecting customer.

This car is definitely nice work, but also of no interest to me.

A 600hp FA20? That I'd definitely click on.

Just to reiterate, the only reason why this build isn't as appreciated as much as it should on this forum is because it's not running the FA20. An engine is literally like the "soul" of a car. Swapping out an engine kindof changes the car into a different person, if you will. To some, the car is no longer an FT86/GT86- it's a one-off frankenstein. I, personally, appreciate the build and think it's pretty awesome. Coyote hit the nail on the head- 2JZ should've been in the title.

I can understand everybody's point of view. For each has his own taste and understanding. I think seeing this project come to live, gives us a good indication of what our options for this car. We may stay stock and boring, or go big and deadly!

With such setup, it might not handle as good as it was, but it drifts way better than stock, way smokier than stock for sure

And for those who didnt see the on-board footage of a low boost pull (440whp @1bar), here u go:

Not to sound rude, but please. Fanboys, we understand. You're upset that someone took the engine out and put another engine in. It's not like he put an American brand V8 in it. He put a Toyota engine in a Toyota. not only that, his attention to detail with HVAC, Keyless start, and getting a throttle cable engine working in a DBW car.

If you can't build a car like this, please keep your elitist stock engine opinions to yourself. So tired of purists. Wake up, it's 2013, not 1960. We're going to do things the way we want. And to be frank, it's a formidable engine, respectable, and proven.

I can appreciate this swap because I used to own a 1989 Mazda RX7 Turbo II FC with a Nissan SR20DET. I can't even begin to talk about how much flak people were giving me for the car not being rotary, or why it didn't have a V8, or let alone the amount of dumb comments.

None of you would dare have those opinions if you took a ride in the car. Let me see you not grin or have a joy of happiness when the throttle is opened up. Respect the man's build and efforts he's put in. It's done right.

Props man, btw for real..do you have a full build out thread on the vehicle with some sort of explanation and reasoning for your process? I'm curious about your throttle position, saw there was a spring/hinge attached to the frame (or what it looked like), I guess to assist if it gets stuck open and ensure it closes?

Two points...

1. People were doing this in the 60's as well, just that they didn't have Japanese cars to do it with. This kind of thing is what they call "Hot Rodding".

2. Now that Subaru has released the stripes in Japan, I really want to see a BRZ with a 427 ford.

Basically what I was getting at is that they're not true car enthusiasts. They're purists. Enthusiasts can learn to respect the build, and learn more about the owner through said build.

As far as the 60's...you know what I meant, but maybe I should just say...fanboys need to stop fannin. They ain't gonna change nobody!

And for engine swaps...there's a Toyota V8 in progress right now..Ultimate 86, and that is one awesome ride in progress.

Wow man, the car looks like a wild ride. Can't wait to see more videos!

I don't get all the rage either. I think a few of the big shop drift cars in Japan swapped out the stock motor too. I like the brz06 with the LS motor. I'm sure someone will eventually drop in a 20B rotary which will be sick.

I'm still waiting for the guy dropping in the twin hayabusa engines!

I know what you meant. I was getting more at the 60's sports car thing. Ripping up British sports cars (true sports cars, much like the BRZ), and stuffing over-powered American V8s into them. I'm sure there were purists in the 60's that were just as upset about their perfect sports cars being ripped up, but I grew up 20 years later with an AC Cobra on my wall.

BTW, I don't really see the point of putting a Toyota engine in the car, since it didn't come with one to begin with. Might as well be a 5.0.

This is the other thread:

Will work on a full coverage of the project soon. It is still in the process

What's the full weight of the car with the 2JZ swapped in?
