It's like 3.60 for premium here. I used to have a Maxima and always found that I would get 2 or 3 more MPGs in 93 octane vs 87. That is about a 10% improvement, which even back then made it almost pay for itself. Now that gas is over $3 the 30 cent difference makes it less than a 10% difference in price, so you are actually making money. Extra power for free? Seems like a no brainer.

3.60? That's it? It's over $4 here... That's why I want to run E85... Its cheaper than 87

Wow, I would definitely go E85 if that was the case here. I think there's only 3 stations within 60 miles and I have no idea what they charge.

And WHAT 93 octane is only 3.55? In California it's like 4 bucks.
Cereal, if you live in California, you do NOT live in the United states of America. Technically you are a member of a 13 state union that is united by tighter emissions standards.

And I've seen the studies, I am aware of the benefits. ;p

E85 is $3.05 a gallon, but I was using BTU so it would look more expensive. E85 has about 75% of the energy content of Gasoline. With 93 available for $3.55, it is more expensive to run E85 unless you are driving a genII FFV.

I would definitely check the prices first. I have the E85prices as my homepage if anybody needs it. Like most people you might be better served waiting for the prices to drop. I would hate to see you convert thinking that it is cheaper and be disillusioned when you find out otherwise, it isn't.

Now to take this back ontopic, with gas prices so high and Ethanol even higher(per BTU) the best deal per BTU and probably cost per Mile is the highest grade of Gasoline available. 93 octane.

You get about half the MPG with E85. I think it breaks even in price with premium. You get more power, but half the range.

I was too slow! What he said.

I don't understand the complaints against buying premium. Premium vs. Regular is almost always a fixed price, say 20 cents.

This means you can sit down and plan out exactly how much more money you would spend on Premium vs. Regular, and its NOT MUCH!

Better than letting your motor knock and explode.

Unless you mis-typed and meant Pure Methanol. You need to go back to school. No way does half the MPG equal break even when the two numbers are 15% apart...just sayin'!

You should be comparing the price of E85 with the price of exotic race fuel.

No other pump fuel gets close to 105RON.

It's basically a Honda S2000 with more torque and looks a hell of a lot better. And has back seats.

One of those statements is an objective fact.
One of those statements is subjective.
One of those statements is completely incorrect. The S2000 had more torque with both engine choices than this engine does.

I think mid 14's is legit and doable based on it's weight and it being RWD. That should be street tires 1/4 mile time. A high 13 might be possible with spare removed, and some DR's on the back, but you would have to drive the shit out of it. This is the low (lighter) spec I'm speaking of that is. The RX8 (mt) is good for a high 14sec run. FT-86 should be quicker than the 8.

I still think that's way too quick. I hope I'm wrong.

With the given torque, power and weight, I can see this car pulling off about a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile. A lot of this is also dependent on gearing though. Under 6 seconds and under 14 in the quarter mile does sound pretty enticing though. I would like to save my clutch past 20,000 miles though.
