![]() Me, I'd just do lowered springs, 18"-20" JDM wheels, exhaust, and spend the rest on a good SQ stereo system. I'm going to buy this car for a daily driver. With what they got planned (~200hp <1200kg) it should be good enough to keep me entertained. |

Edit: Err, I get it now...read through the whole argument, and I see both sides, and you're both correct. Its just a difference of strict track race vs. weekend warrior.
Imho, high quality and highly adjustable shocks are a god-send. I ran Tokico HTS' w/ TRD Japan Race Springs on my AE86 for a few years. Basically, once I found that "sweet" spot for its track use, talking about adjustability, I would always return to that setup every weekend I'd go back to AutoX, but the 'track' never really changed. It's not like going from a flat parking lot to something like....errr, well, a hilly track, which would denote changing the setup slightly. ANNyywhoo, in the end, the spring rates I chose are what killed that setup for me. If I had gone with a softer rate (ran 6.2kg front 4.7kg rear) it would've been more streetable. Then again, you're not supposed to street HTS', lol, and thats why they blew on me after a few years. Last edited by OldSkoolToys; 08-13-2011 at 04:13 PM. |

10 grand well first pay off the car haha! Na just kidding
![]() I would love to build a time attack car but due to income it would be my D.D. so i would have to limit myself to the basic and seeing as the cars not out yet I wont go into detail on brands and setting, thats for the wrench to decide. First would be the exhaust to get some sound and added power (as little it will be) Next the intake for better air flow (allways good) Then ofcorse wheels and tires, im a fan of motgi (beat the crap out of mine in pot holes and curbs and not one dent, scratchs but no dents) and BFG G-force for good grip Depending on how the stock suspention holds up i'll either just do you basic lowering springs or go all out on a whole new set-up and if I got enough money maybe a nice paint job (picking color is the hardest part) I want a car with good power, sick lines and not a gas hog (lord knows gas is too much as it is) and the FT-86 fits the bill. Is that too much to ask |

![]() fatoni, as I mentioned before you may think Ohlins is overrated from the car perspective since they just recently started to add cars to their applications. Their support is HUGE in the motorcycle division where motorcycle suspension can either put you on the right track or put you on your ass! Trust me on this, give it some time with the automotive market and they'll be a well worth suspension. I've been on numerious tracks with several different motorcycles, 150mph leaned over with my elbow inches from the ground... all with a contact patch the width of a quarter!! I've bottomed out oem suspension after 1 session. Not all tracks are the same so having a good baseline is good is a good start then tune from there. I'm not a suspension expert but I know what good/bad feedback is happening in order to inprove. As I mentioned before, when it comes to having your suspension serviced, they're excellent. btw, do you really think Ohlins doesn't have a shock dyno... [u2b]32XLPjdDlRA[/u2b]

This.
![]() This car's entire premise is it's nimble handling. If you want something that's fast in straight line, you're missing the point. That's what a Mustang GT is for.

Well, to be fair, the Mustang GT can handle itself very well in the corners too. It's a different class of car though, and a small amount of money into it and you can drive to the strip, run 11s, and drive home. It'll take a boatload more cash to make the Toyobaru run 11s, I'd bet.
