I'm going to join also. I know the next vehicle we have to buy is a truck (wife's SUV tows the boat atm), but then I can probably buy another toy haha.
I'm never getting rid of the fr-s though. Perfect first car for my kid(s) if I ever have any |

TRASH!!
2014 and still using push rods and rear leaf suspension. What exactly are you paying for? If I want a fast boat, I'll buy one that floats.

I haven't been following, just pointing out the obvious. I want my performance solution to be engineered. The new C7 tells the story of exactly why GM will fail again. They think this gimmick retro look will wow baby boomers with discretionary accounts.

push the damn thing and make sure it sticks as much as i agree that using leaf springs and just having a ton of displacement isn't every exciting, it is, unfortunately, a really good way to make something that fits the above requirements.

What is "obvious" to you is, well, just wrong...

450hp from a compact 450 lb. engine: Yay large-displacement pushrod OHV aluminum V8. Whatever desired spring rate, with less weight, situated lower, also providing some anti-roll (reducing required front bar size, eliminating requirement for rear bar on base model => further weight savings): Yay composite leaf springs. Yay C7 engineering

I am not a Porsche fan.. So I am biased.. But please tell me from a design aspect anything "fresh" from Porsche.. It's a slight evolution in every model since the first.. Heritage from the beetle .. Blah... Yeah they are fast around a track.. But I think Porsche fans hate the fact a cheaper vette beats them all the time with that "boat" technology

What do you think of the engineering of suspensions on all three of your cars (TRASH!! 2013 and still using struts...)?
Because most diehard track enthusiasts with expertise in suspension design would consider struts to be a much bigger negative vs. double-wishbones all around (which the C5, C6, and C7 have), than using leaf springs vs. coils (which, as explained in painful detail in this thread, isn't really a negative). Personally, I don't have anything *major* against struts, they can certainly be engineered to work very well indeed. But to someone who recoils (pun) at the thought of leaf springs (which don't impact suspension geometry), struts must make you want to fricking puke! |

YAY, navigation is optional on the 1LT and 2LT trim levels.
Curious that the car comes with a full-painted roof, and the visible center section roof is optional. We have yet to see a full painted roof, right? The way they have things phrased with the seats implies the base seats are perhaps vinyl, as it's not until the 2LT it says "Performance Leather GT seats". Of course, figgin' typical, the good seats with actual bolstering are late availability. ![]() Anyone notice the carbon fiber interior trim is optional? I wonder what the base trim looks like? Kinda scared it'll be awful cheap plastic. Please Chevy don't make it look like base/rental-car trim. Super disappointed that GM is perpetuating the use of chrome wheels. I was hoping the lip service about pandering to a younger generation wasn't strictly cheap talk. The dealer installed matched luggage is cute to impress the soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Looks like waiting for a 1LT with "competition" seats and Z51 is the way to go for the performance enthusiast. From what I can tell, all the reveal press cars were 2LT with Competition seats + Z51 + Mag-ride + visible carbon roof + carbon interior pack. Ka Ching no doubt.
