The front of your arm rest does not have to follow the contour of the opening in the console. The front can be rectangular with the sides. Even with the front edge of your arm rest coming straight across from right to left it will not interfere with the emergency brake being activated. You might consider that from an appearance point of view.

ravenblackfrs - I like the initial design with the cup holder in the rear.

My suggestion would be to have a small hole up front so you can run the cord for a charger if needed. Something real small and subtle but enough so it can close and sit flush.

Also, use some high dense firm foam/material with the leather pulled very tight. A lot of the armrests I've seen look soft like your elbow will sink right into them. I want an armrest to provide firm support (like other OEM armrests do).

Anyways, looking forward to seeing more progress, this issue has bugged me but I haven't found one on the market I like.

Oh yea man, I want to try to match the same firmness as the door arm rest.

I am going to try to match the leather as close as possible. And the stitching around the top to match the stitching on the steering wheel.

OP, may I ask what your total cost was? Mine was about $250, but I got exactly what I was looking for.

FYI: Unless you're willing to put in a good amount of time and a better amount of money, one of the already available armrests from @Sportsguy83 is easily the right way to go. In hindsight, those armrests are actually quite a bargain.
Just got my OEM armrest for my bday. I was considering doing two holes to match the slots for the stock cup holders but Im scared to hack it up and I can figure how the holes will work. Did they just stretch the leather?
