Cat5e to couple the headunit and faceplate together. I'm not sure about the nexus 7 anymore since I've done some testing and 3G is super shitty in this country. Plus the fact I've upgraded the sound system and streamed content sounds shitty.
Thanks for the pics, I don't think I'll have any problems just eliminating that metal bar, I was thinking it was something way worse than that in the way. FR-S is supposed to be here in a week so need to find a wiring kit soon to do the single din install and then hopefully a spare faceplate to fibreglass a touchscreen/tablet into

has anyone actually tried to remove the metal bar? without cutting it off, but just unscrewing it or something?
or is it a permanent metal bar to support something?
i've been looking at this thread.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8336

and it looks like the metal bar isnt there, or i just cant see it in the photos.

I wish I had the car already so I could have a look myself

That's really interesting ... in those pictures it isn't there at all unless its just the angle hiding it. Would be great to see if its removable instead.

Problem is that everything seems to screw onto that metal bar. So you might end up with creaks from the dash if you cut it. I don't use CD so why not just relocate the faceplate.

Umm I have tipped the faceplate and headunit but not done the wiring bit yet. It pretty easy but I'd recommend you tip both wire and headunit before soldering to avoid heat transfer. Plus you should apparently use untwisted pair cat5e. Not sure why though.

Can you take a few more pictures of your interior? I want to wrap my interior trim pieces in red too, but I'm not sure how it would look after it's done.

Thanks!

If your referring to UTP CAT5 it Unshielded Twisted Pair, not "untwisted pair". I have no idea why it would matter if it were shielded or not.

Me neither, I know guys have had issues with using printer cables n stuff like that. I don't think it should be an issue since I'm only going to need 12-14in extension. One thing I hate is that the face plate connector is 20 pins.
