I have another question which might sounds stupid. Sorry for that.
I live in PA which allow 70% window tint.
I did 35% ((side and rear) which is pretty safe. I never bother by any police even stop in front of them.
(I hear that might get ticket very easy, if tint the windshield)
How about the light tint?
How dark still in safety range? Both head and tail light is OK?
It sounds like spray paint is a better option than overlays.
I just worry might difficult to remove. I am not the shop will offer ”VHT” or not.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Sure, any sort of constructive discussion here is cool with me!

There are different laws for light tints and colors in different states. For example, it's pretty strict in California and tints aren't allowed on any lights. Neither are blue nor red lights even if they have no tint (such as colored bulbs). In other states, I hear colored lights can be ok, perhaps even some tint. You have to look-up the laws for PA (you'll probably find it in your state's DMV site). You can order VHT online and should be able to find the removal procedure with google (according to my friends).

I was wondering what kind of suspension you're running. I am interested in just swapping to the STI springs like you have, how do you like them? I am intending to run 18x8.5 gram light extremes, do you think this would be ok? Or should I stick with the stock sized wheels 17inchers since I'll still be on the stock shocks.

I got your PM and posted part of my answer a few posts earlier but I'll recopy it down here:

But not so low that I scrape everywhere. I do scrape occasionally but that's because my STI front lip+rubber flap take away 2" of clearance and the rubber flap absorbs all the impact.
About the 18x8.5 Gram Lights, those should be fine with the STI springs. Be sure to select offsets that follow the Wheel Fitment Guide. 18s will just have a shorter sidewall with less vertical cushioning than 17s so the ride will feel a little stiffer on 18s (assuming you select tires that maintain stock overall diameter). It's all a matter of preference. Let me know if anything seems unclear.

Will the taillight also has the nonuniform temperature distribution issue or
only the headlight?
Thanks again.

When temperature changes, the lens expands/contracts at a different rate than the overlay because they are different materials. Since they are mated together, one has to give way. The overlay usually has some flexibility and gives way. But when it's not flexible enough, the lens will form cracks.

I don't plan to put overlays on any lights unless there is a brand proven to not cause cracks. Cracks don't happen 100% to everyone, but the risk is there and it's up to you if you want to live with that risk. I'd say the side markers are the lowest risk and bigger pieces higher risk.

Yes, it should because the overlay is a different material than the tail light lens so they would have different rates of expansion/contraction with temperature.

I have probably one of the most unlikely mod questions for you. The little guy you've got hanging from your windshield, how is he hanging there? It looks like it's probably a suction cup. I have an 1-up mushroom for my car and I wanted something to hang it with.

I've thought about it... it is a nice, functionally aerodynamic item. But I'd want it more if it were something I can see, hear, or feel in additional to being functional (like my other mods). Maybe next time when I get a crazy itch to mod.

You got it... it's a suction cup from Walmart. Wrapped a tiny rubber band around the nub of the suction cup and the keyring which came with the toy. 1-up mushroom would look cool.

Looking at your picture of it now, it's a much nicer suction cup than anything I could find at Walmart, but I did find a solution. I bought a bath sponge that had it's own suction cup so you can hang it in the shower and cut the suction cup off. I have to take a picture of it tomorrow when I have more light.
