this is actually the set I'm wrapping my rpf1s with. I was thinking of Yokohama sdrives but I quickly remembered my past experience with those tires. horrible thread life.

Sad thing is, a lot of minivans are faster in a straight line than the frs or close enough for it to be a good race.

LOL Your not gonna give too many people the business with 150 torques my friend.... my old contour could probably out run my stock FRS from a dig or a roll. Now on a road course... it's a whole other ball game

Anyway... if you are concerned about tread life look at the BFG GForce Sport (skip barber uses them on all their school cars) and unless you want your FRS to push like a pig consider a smaller stagger front to rear... maybee 235's front 245's rear of you feel you need more grip in the rear. Going wider than stock allows you to go with a longer tread life tire while still upping the total grip.. Of course wider = heavier too and heavier = parasitic losses = slower than stock.

I've never used the V12's but it seems everyone and their brother loves them. I will say the BFG's work like an all season (can take temps in the 40's without loosing all grip) but grip like a high treadwear summer tire. I got 20k miles out of the set on my Evo VIII with another 10k left when i sold the wheels and tires.. they can take negative camber within reason without excessive inner edge wear.

thanks for the info alot my dude. im going strictly for looks and to turn heads when they see my car. having those wide fat looking wheels and tires will just be the icing on the cake and all i need for that. not really going for speed as of now, in the future maybe ill do a s/c but who knows im just a college kid haha. thanks again!

This thread should be renamed "best tire for posturing and generally stupid activity on the street."

That aside, one of the best street tires out there with not bad treadwear and excellent wet/dry handling is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. They're pricey though.

For raw dry grip...

RS3 > Z2SS > 595RSR > RE11 = AD08 >>>> PSS

On the other hand, if I had the budget, I'd be running r-comps permanently on the street.

Keep in mind, I have a lot more experience with tires than most of the guys commenting on this thread. Most people go from a old, bald, heat-cycled tire to a fresh tire, and automatically proclaim the fresh tire better. I typically go through a set of tires in 6-10 weeks. I also have multiple sets of rims, sometimes with various different tires, so I literally do have back-to-back comparison experience.

You might say that I have a tire problem. I say invest in rubber ala Subaru.

Just curious, based on your experience - would that same priority also hold true for treadwear?

For treadwear, this is how I'd rate them

RE11 = AD08 >> Z2SS > PSS > RS3 >>> 595RSR

Keep in mind, for dry grip, we're talking less than 0.5 seconds on a 2 minute lap, while life on the RE11 is double the 595RSR.

That's an exercise in not overheating them
