Have you seen a dyno of this engine? For an NA 2.0L it makes a ton of torque.

Yeah, the torque curve for this car is oddly good for a stock engine knocking on 100hp/l. People complain about the torque valley, but really everything in the valley is normal, it's that early swell that's odd.

People are pretty raw about having a torque bump for some reason

I think the engine is detuned for fuel efficiency. This is why a simple 93 tune will yield 20hp

Because AVLS doesn't really come on any popular American Subaru engine. It's found much more so on their N/A offerings. Popular American Subaru engines are turbocharged EJ205, 255, and 257 models.
