BRZ Front Grille Picture DIY

On-car comparison of before/after:

Definitely paint black! It'll look 100x better.

Afterthoughts from running this setup for 3 years: Might try bending back the edges of the gutter guard or leaving as is instead of using automotive trimming - it all fell off anyways. However, this grille itself is still perfectly functional, and I still recommend this to anyone w/ a stock BRZ front bumper.

Outlined process below was done without bumper removal, but definitely easier to test fit with bumper off.

Apologize for crappy camera quality, uploaded pics directly to ft86club.com to prevent broken links.

I swear they made all the trim pieces match the gutter guard pattern! The Scion has even more of it all over the interior.

Looks well-done, although I'd be all about painting it black and maybe mounting in front of the factory grille.

I've never tried those plastic screws, that looks like a good idea.

As others have said, this will diminish airflow and just doesn't match the rest of the front of the car. The craftsmanship looks pretty decent though...

Measurements

Would you happen to have the measurements for the cut? It doesn't have to be exact, I just want to know how big a sheet I need to buy.

Woah, didnt check this thread after I made it, sorry for delayed response but better late than never!

I gotta say I don't really like having the car with the shiny grille either, I plan on painting it black once it gets warmer.

As for airflow, having anything in front of the condenser/radiator would restrict airflow. Personally I do not believe this mod to be bad, though I do not have any evidence backing my claim up.
A Subaru mechanic also pointed out to me that this opening was one of his concerns, especially with the car sitting low, that a flying rock may damage the aluminum condenser as it was.

Only one I got (Original picture lost)

(Update: Actually it seemed I had this far shot as well with the silver grille.)

ProjectD actually PM'd me about this too, it took just one segment of the precut pieces at home depot. I just had to trim off about 4 inches on the length. I have the photo of the label of the exact one I got in OP.

Update: Painted black!
Looks more oem aka better.

One thing I'm adding is to add a little glue to the door trim guards. The bottom one fell off as I discovered.
