The smart is too expensive. This makes more sense.

If only there was another car you could buy for $6,800 (or much less!) that sat 2, had 4 wheels, was a convertible, had a very useable trunk, was RWD, weighed about 2,200 lbs, 132hp... Shoot, just can't think of anything like that in the used market that would be 10x the value than a startup 3 wheeled bike. MX...6? No. MX...3?? No, no. I give up. :p

Neat idea. They should make it in black to hide how ugly it is, though. I wouldn't be driving that thing to be noticed so much as to take advantage of the 50-80mpg

According to the site, they offer like 7 colors. Silver, green, orange, red, black, white, blue.

I still think it's just a kit car body with a Smart car engine, and a Can Am drivetrain. :P

(I kinda want one though.)

""In many states both driver and passenger will be required to wear a helmet, I didn't see that helmet on any of those people who were just popping into the grocery.""
Not True.l 26 states no helmet is required. 14 states no helment required under the age of 21, 19, or 18.. depending on the state. You have to read the law in each state to find the helmet law exceptions. Exceptions are listed as: "covered roof", "enclosed cab", "type 2 motorcycle" or "autocycle'. An actual example of how this is being handled might be AZ "
This subsection does not apply to electrically powered three wheeled vehicles or three wheeled vehicles on which the operator and passenger ride within an enclosed cab.

just don't understand why they keep making 3 wheel cars...? If it hasn't worked before why will it work now?
Most 3 wheel vehicles have the single wheel in front.. which is a rollover waiting to happen. This is a well designed car with 84 MPG highway, anticipated 5 Star Crash rating, with AC, electric door lock and windows. And 6800.00 Far better value, safer, and economical than anything in the past.

Yes it has a back seat but not enough for the average American's 2.3 children, nor is it versatile enough for even the rarest occasion, say you take your girlfriend out and she wears a dress/skirt, she won't get in the back of this. Plus, can you imagine installing a baby seat, or the painful/awkward position you'd put yourself in to get groceries in and out?
It's cheap enough that your girlfriend can drive herself in her own if she wants. Most households have a minivan..or an suv that they take the kids to soccer etc. Then there is the "other" vehicle that is used to drive either parent to work. We can easily be that "other" vehicle in a family situation. At 6800.00 you can buy a used car that you might get 23 MPG.. with 120K and probably a number of issues popping up, or you can buy the Elio with 36K 3 year warranty.. and get 84 MPG. This vehicle isn't for everyone for sure, but it will fit nicely in most all households.

Just buy a used Miata for half the price. It will hold more, and be more fun to drive. And the difference in cost will easily make up for the difference in mpg.

Slow version of this thing:

If I had to choose a dorky trike, I'd take the one powered by a ZX-14R motor*, thankyouverymuch...

* Is this as powerful as the twins? More? Gotta be close.
